Up for sale is one of the nicest “longroofs” that you will find available for sale today. This 1965 Chevy Bel Air stationwagon has what it takes to draw crowds wherever it goes. This car spent the first 40 years of its life in Southern California. and it shows. Some highlights of the car are as follows.

Body – The restoration was done as a frame on. The car was stripped to the bare metal. epoxy primed and then painted with DuPont base/clear. The color is 2003 Audi Bright Silver. There are no replacement panels on this car anywhere! It has all original sheet metal. including all floors. The car was cut and polished to give this wagon one of the nicest finishes around. All the weather stripping has been replaced. All of the glass in this car is original and in good shape. It has been all tinted with a 50% gradient tint. The car comes with two hoods. It currently has a new custom fibreglass hood that has the trademark 2” cowl induction hood that can be found on first generation Camaros. This is a complete hood. complete with the correct framework on the underside to make it look like the real deal. It also comes with the original flat hood painted to match the car color.

Underside – The undercarriage of the car is all original. including the original rust proofing as applied back in 1965. You can still find all of the original spot welds along the rockers. There isn't a nut or bolt that you couldn't remove with a wrench. The car has been lowered with drop spindles on the front along with a complete air ride system throughout. All new tubular suspension components have replaced the original GM suspension upper and lower control arms and the rear trailing arms with all components having new polygraphite bushings. It also has big sway bars front and rear. all new brake lines. 3” aluminized exhaust with Flowmaster 50 series mufflers. Auburn Pro Series 12 bolt posi with 3:73 gears with Tom's K-A axles. The car has been converted to 11” GM disc brakes on the front. complete with a modified master cylinder and vacuum reservoir. It also has a supplemental vacuum pump to make sure that this car stops when required. The rears are 11” drum brakes with premium shoes.

Drive train – The engine is a completely rebuilt GM 454 bored to 468 cubic inches with approx 475 HP. It is detailed with a new polished Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake. 750 cfm Mighty Demon carb. complete MSD Ignition including an MSD Pro Billet distributor. MSD coil. Hooker Pro Comp headers. Weiand aluminium water pump and Chevrolet aluminium valve covers. It runs on higher octane pump gas. The engine compartment has all new parts including a new AGR quick ratio steering box and pump. a new US rad with Spal thermo controlled electric fans and custom shroud. Car runs cool. even in the dead heat of summer. The transmission (completely rebuilt in 2014) is a 700R4 overdrive with a shift kit in it for that extra kick when it shifts gears.

Chrome – All chrome. polished aluminium and stainless steel on this car is in better than new condition. All stainless steel trim was removed. anodized and polished. The front and back bumpers have been re-chromed. All trim on the car is original. including body side mouldings. grill. windshield reveal mouldings. and headlight eyebrows. The car has the original tail lights as well.

Interior – The aqua interior has been completely restored. The seats were recovered with the original styled material that the car came with back in 1965. Both front and back seats have been completely redone and look like new. The car retains the original door panels. The panels are in excellent shape given the year of the car. The dash has been completely re-painted and looks great. Note the dash pad is gone in favour of a painted dash. It looks great and doesn't give off any reflection on a sunny day. Both headliner and carpets are all new. The dash instrument cluster is original and in great shape. I added a functional vacuum gauge to it. Note the original AM radio. There is a full Autometer gauge package. Changing gears is done using a floor mounted B&M Ratchet Hammer shifter. The rear compartment has been completely restored and is in great shape. I still have original spare . but in it's place is the air ride pump and central control mechanisms for it. The tailgate works well with all new weather-stripping around it and the rear glass to seal out exhaust fumes. The rear glass is full power and functions perfectly. Note the shaved handle off the rear gate to give the car a cleaner look.

Extras – Killer Giovanna wheels make this car really stand out in a crowd! 20's on the front and 22's on the rear. Nitto tires round out this package with P245/35/ZR20 95w on the front and P285/35/ZR22 106w on the rear. The car also has cruise control installed for the long haul cruises! There is a custom under-dash sound system. complete with AM/FM radio/CD player with a remote for easy control. There are underdash speakers and a custom rear speaker box to give this system a sound of its own. The rear speakers are easily removed if you want to fold down the rear seat for more cargo capacity. It also comes with a $400 indoor/outdoor custom made car cover that fits the car like a glove.

In summary. this is one of the coolest cars to have at the local car show or an evening cruise night. This wagon has it all…great color. great stance (up or down). great wheels. absolutely awesome sounding big block Chevy with one of the snottiest cams going. and one of the nicest interior colors from the mid ‘60s that you will ever find. It's amazing at how many people stop by to tell you about the wagon their family had while they were growing up. They can relate to one of these. while not too many people grew up with a Camaro or Mustang in the garage that was used as the family hauler. Personally. I love this car. and I always will. Changing interests are what is driving me to sell it. There is over $45. 00 invested in this car. and I think it shows it very well. If you want to set yourself apart in a crowd. this is the car to do it.
