Car appears to be an original 427/390. 4-speed Corvette convertible with matching numbers driveline and no power options (soft top only. tinted glass).   The car is completely disassembled. and will need a complete restoration.   The car does not run or drive.   The body is currently sitting on the frame. but is not bolted down.

The frame. birdcage. pillar posts and radiator support are all solid and rust free.   Car appears to have most of its original factory paint.   Right front area of the fiberglass body has been damaged; most likely due to an engine fire (don't know exact details).   Damaged (burned) areas include the right (passenger side) front fender. right top hood surround (to the headlight opening). right top side of the firewall (about where the RH hood latch receiver and wiper door canister are). right front inner fender and lower front valance at right front fender (see photos).   Frame has been sandblasted and painted. and shows no rust at either end cap or kick up areas.   The frame looks absolutely beautiful!  Original big-block hood was missing (burned - part of it is still attached to the LH hood hinge).   An original GM small-block hood with an L-88 style hood scoop attached is included (see photo).   Hood and latch hardware are all there. including the hood support prop.   Stainless trim around the windshield is good. with one small dent on both the top and RH outer stainless pieces.   Both doors have decent fiberglass. but RH outer door skin is separating slightly at the front and bottom. and there is rust on the bottom of both doors (see photos).   Both headlight assemblies are in very good condition (no rust or egged out holes).   Headlight bezels are metal. but both have cracks. and one has a chunk missing from it.   All four (4) headlights are T-3's.   Windshield glass is shaded. but shattered.   Side glass is also tinted. and in good condition.   Both side windows roll up and down with effort.   Rear clip and deck lid are in very good condition.   Lower rear valence is there. but in three (3) pieces.   All deck lid hardware is still in place on the decklid.   Metal support piece (behind the seats). is rusted through (see photo). as is rear console mounting bracket and e-brake handle mount.   Original 4-speed floor with all pedal assemblies are intact.   Inboard seat belt mounts appear to have been ripped out of the floor (see photo).   The torn out pieces are still attached to the seat belt webbing. and are included.   Outboard seat belt assemblies are there. but rusty.   Rear compartment area is good. but there are some holes in the fiberglass within the battery compartment area.   A near complete set (7). of 1969 side vent grille covers are on the car.

The following fiberglass repair panels go with the car (see last photo):

1) NOS GM black fiberglass right front upper fender section (from door to front valence.

2) NOS GM black fiberglass right front lower fender side vent grille section.

3) New reproduction black fiberglass lower front valence.

4) Original used GM RH firewall repair section. with the hood latch receiver bolts (2). wiper door vacuum canister mounting bracket. and metal backing plate.

5) Section of RF inner fender. which includes the bracket for the wiper washer bottle (not in last picture).

Front bumper appears to be straight. and in good condition.   Front bumper brackets appear to be all there. as are both front bumperettes. which are rusted through.   Rear bumpers are both in driver condition.   Rear bumper brackets also appear to be complete.   Rear vents that mount on top of the rear deck are both there.   Gas tank is there (no tank sticker). as are both mounting straps.   Gas tank filler door and bezel are there; gas cap is a locking GM type (with key).   Left front grille and turn signal assembly are there. but the grille is damaged.   Center grille and right front grille are missing.   Right front turn signal assembly is there. but the grille appears to have melted around it. and the wire harness is frayed.   Soft top frame is there. but appears bent; there is rust on the front top bow area.   Tail lights. left front side marker lamp and both rear side marker lamps are all there.   Both rear exhaust bezels are there. but very pitted.   Front grille brackets don't appear to be complete.   Lower front valence has both chrome grill trim pieces attached; front license plate mounting bracket is missing.   Lower rocker covers (fiberglass). are there. but both have been cut out in spots.   Side rocker stainless pieces are both missing.   Radio antenna mounting assembly (on the car). and rear antenna plate (under the car). are both there.   No radio antenna.   Rear license plate bezel is bent and pitted.   All five (5) wheels are 15” Corvette style rallies. but not the "AG" coded '68 only wheels.   Spare tire tub and lid are both there. but damaged.   No jack or jack handle.   I have a medium box of bagged parts. and 3 coffee cans full of bolts. washers. clips. pushrods. bearings. brackets. screws. nuts. etc. . that go with car.   Most bolts/screws were bagged and labeled by the previous owner. who disassembled the car.

Engine compartment is not complete. due mainly to the front end fire damage.   Radiator support and radiator shroud are out of the car. but included.   No radiator.   The radiator support has no rust through on the bottom or sides.   Front engine harness suffered some damage from the engine fire. and some wires have melted together.   No wiper door assembly or horns. but both upper fender windshield molding pieces are there.   Windshield wiper linkage and wiper motor are both there. and in good shape. Wiper washer bottle is gone.   A partial RH front inner fender section is included; LH front inner fender is fine.   Master cylinder. voltage regulator and horn relay all appear to be original.   Steering column and steering box look fine.   Both splash panels are there and all other front suspension pieces look OK.   Vacuum box (black) and 4-speed clutch linkage assembly all look OK.

I had the engine block cleaned and magna fluxed at a local machine shop on September 4. 2014.   “Good Block” – no cracks found.   Standard bore now – bores worn . 003 to . 007.   Block will need bored and #2 cylinder will need a sleeve (piston broke up in the cylinder – see photo of #2 cylinder wall. and all pistons pictured together).   Deck less than . 003 - warp OK.   Main's will need align honed.   Heads are complete. and look OK (only took the block to the machine shop).   Crankshaft. camshaft. pistons and rods are all there (note again damage to #2 piston).   Original valve covers with flash chrome are there.   GM aluminum intake appears stock and still has the Winters snowflake.   Exhaust manifolds with smog appear stock with no cracks. repairs or welds that I can see.   No smog parts outside of what's attached to both exhaust manifolds.   Oil pan is there; as is alternator. timing chain cover. timing chain & gear. harmonic balancer. flywheel. starter and carburetor.   No air cleaner assembly.

Interior is well worn. and should be replaced/restored.   Upper and lower seat frames. chrome hockey sticks (4). seat foam. upper and lower dash pads. quarter trim pieces and door panels are all there. and most appear to be original. Driver's side door panel appears to be a later '68. as it has the pull handle installed on it. and the passenger side does not.   Quarter trim pieces have. “pilot job” stamped on the back sides.   No seat tracks or seat latches.   Inside windshield trim. sunvisors and rear view mirror assembly are all there.   Steering wheel is the correct ‘67/68 Corvette plastic wood grain wheel. with a good sized crack at about 6 o'clock.   Steering column looks complete and in good condition.   Center console housing is there. but in three (3) pieces.   No 4-speed shifter plate.   E-Brake assembly is very rusty. but a nice replacement assembly is included.   The plastic E-brake cover is there. but both seat belt buckles are frozen/rusted inside the seat belt holders.   Both front console trim extensions are missing.   Heater control mechanism. heater cables and original Corvette AM-FM radio are there.   All carpeting has been removed.   The rear compartment frame is there. along with all three (3) compartment doors. plus one.   Door sill plates are there. but rough.   All gauges are there. but need restored.   Tachometer shows a 6. 00 RPM redline (correct for low horsepower big blocks); speedometer shows 49. 94 miles on the odometer.

I'm selling the car because I have too many Corvette projects going on right now. and not enough time.   The car has obviously incurred some fire damage. and will need fiberglass repairs done to the right front (passenger) area of the body.   The car has also been exposed to the elements. for who knows how long.   Car appears to be an original 427/390 horse big-block. chrome bumper Corvette convertible with its original 4-speed drivetrain. but I have no GM paperwork to confirm that.

Car is located about 30 miles southeast of Columbus. Ohio.   Personal inspections of the car and all the parts. is recommended and encouraged.   I will be more than happy to help the winning bidder load the car and parts. or work with your shipper as best I can.   Terms are cash upon pick up of the car in Lancaster. Ohio (Zip code 43130).

I have a clear (not salvage). West Virginia title.   The car was disassembled and then stored in a West Virginia barn for the past seven (7) years.   The car had been titled in North Carolina prior to coming to West Virginia – an original North Carolina title dated December 19. 1974. is included.   I have NO factory GM paperwork with the car.   I do have a Haynes 1968 – 1982 Corvette Automotive Repair Manual. which goes with the car.
