*************************************************************************************************************************************************************This a a "K" coded car through and through BUT it DID NOT come equipped as a K code car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me explain as best as I know.
When I bought the car. the prior owner had owned the car over 25 years. She drove it a year or so then parked it for 25 years and it sat for 25 years. When I saw the car. I noticed the VIN # and that it had the K code VIN. I thought it must be a mistake or someone doctored with this car in some manner. I then proceeded to check to see if the other 2 areas where the Vin # is stamped if all the #'s were the same. They were. I checked the car to see if any indication that this car was ever a K code. It was NOT!!!  So. my thoughts are that MAYBE the car was scheduled to be a K code car  and some how. the car was dressed as a 6 cylinder by ford . This is just a guess and your guess would be as good as mine but I can tell you three things:  1) the car has the vin# stamped in 3 areas of the car and they all have the letter "K". ( pic in with the photos) 2) The car  was never dressed as a K car3) The car vin# is original to the car  and was not doctored.
When I got my NC title. DMV wanted to see the car because I told them it was not driveable. They had some inspector come out . He saw the Vin# and said the car must be title with the correct vin# which is the K code vin#. not the T code vin # that was on the previous owners title. I know this is all strange but it is what it is. I was told I had to get a title with the k code vin# and it would be stamped "Inoperable" until I got it operable. At that time. DMV would come back out. make sure it was a running car and then. they would give me a clear operable title. So. please note the car title is CLEAR but stamped inoperable. I have enclosed a copy of the current title in with the pics.
When I bought this car. I had full intentions of building a K code equipped car or similar. The following is what I did to the car:The car was fully taken down and soda blasted. It was overall a pretty solid car but I did have all metal replaced that was suspect. I toyed with the replacement of the quarter panels because as you can see. there is a patch panel. But I elected not because of finances. The car has original ford  doors and fenders. hood and trunk lid  all in excellent condition. No rust. In fact . no rust anywhere now.  The  original ford doors are awesome. They too were soda blasted and the grain on the doors is awesome.

My plans to build a K code car fell short because of finances. I purchased ALL new parts for this car to put it back together and I have almost all of it brand new such as : new bumpers. gas tank . all new 66 red pony interior ( all of it) . new original style wood pony steering wheel. power steering. console. power top cylinders. etc. ALL OF IT!!. I am disappointed that my dream of a complete rebuild of a K car could not work out for me but. maybe for someone out there.
I had the car about 2 years and  now it just sits. What a shame. I paid a lot for the car  and I have purchased all new parts for it.
Feel free to ask me questions and I will answer to the best of my knowledge.
Thanks!
I'm sure there a lot of things that you might have questions on so please ask me. But here are a couple of the things that I thought about. All the doors fenders trunk lid are just on the car very loosely. And when I say the car is in- operable that only means that it is not drivable. The engine ran fine. If you want to come inspect the car please feel free. If you want to take the fenders off to inspect under the fenders. it would take 2 minutes and you are welcome to.
I can tell you the car has not been tampered with. The buck tag and door tag have the "T". Like I said in the description. there are NO K car indications. none. The car was owned by a old lady for 27 years or so and it sat for 25. The prior owner to that is dead.
The car was never wrecked as far as I can see the . the inner fenders are original to car . . all three areas have the K code Vin #.
I am telling you . this is some kind of freak car. It a 100% T car with the exception of the K vin # in 3 places.
The title will be a K code car per DMV.

The car is very very solid. The car came as a sprintime yellow with black pony interior. power top and power steering. a/t.
I have complete 66 red pony interior for it . all done and ready to go in the car. I was going to paint it black. Out of money.

I have the buck tag and door plate. all say T.

any other ???. let me know. . if you have the money and can find a hipo engine/drive train . rear end . spindles . you are good to go.
Only 133 1966 K car convertibles made. Is this a K code?? I have no idea. Seems Ford said so but someone at ford messed up I would guess. Who can argue with the VIN # on the chassis in 3 areas??

** The car was never in any kind of substantial accident. No inner fender damage or any indications that the inner fender was tampered with. The car is VERY straight. Keep in mind the doors . hood. enders and trunk lid on just loosely on the car. not line up or anything at this time. The car is actually detailed in the engine area and under the car very nicely!! I will see if I can get some more pics of the engine bay. trunk and under side this morning. Any more ???. let me know. This is a special car for someone!! I wish I could DO IT RIGHT.
More/different pics added for those who wanted other pics. I could only have 24 pics. The car is dusty and has cob webs but VERY clean and most of the car is bare metal. I know. needs to be primed but I wanted you all to see it stripped to the metal----hiding NOTHING!!
Let me also tell you this. If you are wanting to keep it the 6 cylinder car that it is. it has all new brakes. power steering. heater box all re-done 100%. newer 66 mustang single exhaust and hangers. radiator is almost brand new. new alternator. new fuel pump. petronix ignition just added( brand new) new gas tank . brand new installed pony interior (red). brand new white top to be installed. all new chrome for the whole car. 99% of it etc. I have a LOT of money in the car. oh. I have all of the glass of course and all the innards of the door including the pony courtesy lights. it goes on and on.
