1957 Mercedes Benz 219 – Family owned for the last 57 years. my dad bought the car in 1959 from a US serviceman. The car spent most of it's life in Portage la Prairie. Manitoba. Canada and was my dad's daily driver until about 1966/67. After that it was driven only in summer and later on only on weekends.  My dad retired in 1995 and took the car to Victoria BC. at which time he had the seats recovered. front and rear bumpers and grille shell rechromed years ago but still in very good condition. He also did some top end work (Valve and head) on the engine. under the supervision of Rudi of Rudi and Company on Vancouver Island.  He also changed the speedometer/odometer to km/h and km. following the change to the metric system in Canada. I still have the original mph/mile speedometer/odometer assembly. The mileage on the Imperial odometer is 81. 64 miles. on the Metric odometer 113. 62 km (approx. 70. 32 miles). Not sure why the discrepency. my assumption would be that the Metric odometer was set at the same number as the miles. in error. when the change was made. This would mean an additional 31. 98 km (19. 77 miles) since. for a total mileage on the car of 101. 41 (81. 64 + 19. 77) miles. Again this is my best guess. so the actual mileage on the car may vary.

I inherited the car in 1998 after my dad passed away.  I have kept up with regular maintenance since then. it does have a replacement fuel pump. original will be included for potential rebuilding.

The paint is an older repaint which is beginning to show it's age. various nicks and scratches which I tried to keep up with touch up paint and some sun fade on hood. roof and trunk lid. There are a couple of minor rust spots. but in all the body and underside are in good condition. There is one poorly done bit of bodywork beside the fuel filler door. The interior has the rubber floor mats and the headliner is coming down at the back window a bit. My dad had replaced the steering wheel and turn signal ring with replacement parts from Star Classics Inc. of Scottsdale Arizona. I have always ordered parts from Miller's Mercedes. The door panels could use replacing. The car runs and drives well. with some minor grinding once in a while when shifting into reverse. could just need a clutch adjustment. Clutch has not been replaced since I have owned the car. It is presently in storage in my garage and could use a tune up.

Also I think there is a small exhaust leak in the resonator downstream of the exhaust manifold.

I know that sentiment has no place in car sales. however even with a few blemishes this car is in good to very good condition and with some additional effort could be a really stunning classic and give years of pleasurable motoring.  I am selling as my wife and I recently purchased a place at the lake. I rarely drive it now and hate to see it sitting when someone could be enjoying it.

It is for sale at what I consider a reasonable reserve. given the issues I mentioned above. I welcome any mechanical inspections or reviews if a buyer so chooses. any inspections to be arranged and paid for by prospective buyers.

Also have the original owners manual and tool kit. numerous spare parts from a donor car including; the intake. exhaust. dual carbuerator and air cleaner assembly from a 220 series (carbs would require rebuild). that I am willing to include with the car. There is a CD player in the glove box and speakers mounted in package shelf and kick panels. Seat belts were installed in the front by my Dad many years ago and in the back by me in the late 90's.
