1959 Bentley S1 Flying Spur

A very rare late model S1 flying spur by H. J. Mulliner of Chiswick. Unusually the car was specified from new with twin marechal headlamps in the manner of later S3 cars; this is documented in the build sheets as is the passenger head rest detailed in original Mulliner drawings that come with the car.

The car has resided for many years in a small collection in Denmark where it has seen regular but sparing summer only use. We picked the car up in Copenhagen & drove it back to the UK via Esbjerg. On the journey the odometer passed 100. 00 miles for the first time. The car drove flawlessly running effortlessly at speed & giving first hand meaning to the Continental Moniker. The car simply devoured the miles in front of it & is well suited to long continental journeys which it handles with aplomb.

The car is finished in a deep metallic blue that suits the car beautifully. The paint is in good overall order having had a recent respray to the wings & doors. To the interior is deep burgundy leather complimented by similar carpets. The leather to the seats is more recent & consequently in superb order. The original door card leather is excellent & pleasingly has been retained. The interior woodwork is pale walnut in fine original order throughout with satinwood bandings to the door trims. A modern sound system is discreetly tucked away under the front picnic table.

The car has been maintained without regard to cost as evidenced by the plethora of large bill sin the history file. The last major bill was for over £12. 00 alone. We are in the process of UK registering the car so when sold it will come with a UK V5.

This is a fine car in fine order with a light & pleasant patina of use. It is driving flawlessly with excellent oil pressure & cool water temperature. The fuel gauge ceased to work on the way home so we are in the process of fixing it & giving the car a pre-sale service.
