This is an very rare car in great condition. It has a huge history file with it a documented lifetime with a family. a book about her travels. a film career and a starring role in music videos.
About the car. 1964 Pontiac Tempest 326ci V8 six passenger 4Dr sedan. She was built in the Fremont California plant. She is desert Beige in colour with light saddle metallic interior and column shift. three speed automatic gearbox. She is good condition for her age. She has 102K miles on the clock however the engine was comprehensively rebuilt by the previous owner along with new front seats. carpet and a list of other things. She is easy and economical (20+mpg) to drive for a large american car and classic insurance means she is actually quite inexpensive to run as a daily driver. She has MOT until December 12th 2014 and is tax exempt. Since I bought her she has been lovingly looked after and has never been driven taken outside in wet or even damp conditions. The fact that she is a California car means that she is remarkably rust free for a 50 year old car.
This Cars History. Sold 'New' by McKissick Pontiac Inc. 970 E. 14th Street. San Leandro. Alameda. Calif. 94577 (No longer in existence. but was located opposite the San Leandro Police Station. It is now a retirement home) to Jean Garcia of San Leandro. CA (just around the corner from the dealership) on 9th Sept 1964.
The car then passed on/inherited in Jan 1984 to Mr and Mrs Hicks of San Leandro. CA 94579. again not far from McKissick. Mrs Hicks was the daughter of the original owner Jean Garcia.
The car was then bought by Mr Schneider of San Leandro CA (still in the same area) on 24th February 2004. He is a Pontiac enthusiast. He removed the engine and completely rebuilt 3000 miles ago due to an annoying oil leak which it no longer suffers from. There are loads of invoices for the work done and machining by Hubbard Machine Shop. San Leandro. He also owned an identical car in desert beige but a 2dr basic (non custom) version with a six cylinder engine.
It was then purchased by Mr Bennett from Oxford in May 2010 in readiness for a trip to San Francisco & Los Angeles. He used it as daily transport for 10 days driving down from San Francisco along the coastal road to Los Angeles. visiting places and collecting parts for other 1950's Pontiacs he had in the UK. He did about 1000 miles in the car and says that it never missed a beat or let him down. He also documented the whole entire trip.
The fifth owner was Shadowdark Productions of Pinewood Studios. London who bought the car in May 2011. This was a production company set up to create the Tim Burton movie 'Dark Shadows'. The Pontiac had a fleeting role in the movie as a background vehicle but would later be featured in several music videos for bands in London.
I have a full photo album documenting all aspects of the cars life. There is a huge file of documented history including the original sales stamps. sales receipts. owners guide. model range brochure. 1964 Pontiac accessory booklet. as well as receipts for work done and email correspondence with all the previous owners.
This is a great car that will be sadly missed but I have to sell as I have lost my parking space.

Hi there from the US! I have a 64 Tempest too. My first car from when I was 16 in 1985. Please tell me about your license plate! Is it regulation to have the model and engine info on it? Or is this a custom plate? Would love to hear from you. I was in London last summer and probably would not have believed my eyes if I saw your car in person. They are rare in the US too!
