1960 Wolseley 1500 mk 2

With my age and failing health my Wolseley 1500 is unfortunately not being used and so I have made the decision to let it go to an enthusiast

who can use and cherish it. It is taxed until January 2015. mot tested for a full year and is very reluctantly put up for sale.

It is not advertised anywhere else.

My 54 year old 1960 Wolseley 1500 mk2 saloon has only covered 65- - - miles. It is in mostly original condition inside and out.

The light grey lower half was painted onto the panels about 15 years ago

and the darker grey is mostly original apart from only a couple of ‘touch up' marks on the paintwork.

It still has its original carpets in place and I have a set of new ones which will be sold with the car.

The headlining is in very good condition and is not torn. however it is showing age related water stains.

The wood door cappings and dashboard are all original and in very good condition. just how they should be.

 The door ‘cards' and seats are all in the same very good condition. It has never had a radio fitted.

The boot is still as it was in 1960. with no rust showing on any panels.

Under the bonnet is the same. The cylinder head was converted to ‘unleaded' fuel last year.

The inner wings and other panels are all rust free. All the body panels are original apart from two new bumpers put on about 15 years ago by a previous owner.

The only marks on the body are a couple of blisters on the paintwork on the front o/s wing in front of the door. but I am sure that these could easily be sorted out.

Underneath the car is more or less the same as the rest. The silencer is stainless steel. but I'm not sure about the rest of the exhaust system.  

I have all of the Wolseley's history from new including the ‘original bill of sale'.

The car's first owner kept it until the 1990's when it was sold to a person who laid it up and didn't use it.

He sold it to an enthusiast who replaced all of the parts which degrade with age.

Ill health caused this person to sell the car to another enthusiast who hardly used it and I bought it a couple of years ago

and it has mostly been in my garage covered up ever since. apart from two journeys to the testing station in 2013 and April 2014

with ‘90 miles' driven between them (and it is 14 miles return to the mot garage).

I can't think of anything else to tell you about the Wolseley. At the end of the auction a small pay-pal deposit would secure the car with cash on collection.
