Firstly. This car is NOT for the purist. please look elsewhere. Having said that. it is an excellent car for use and enjoyment and an interesting history. Bought in Nov '13 as a winter project & toy. now for sale due to deteriorating health. The original log book shows it was registered as a Morris Mini Cooper S and 1275 cc . Current V5c shows me as keeper and listed as Cooper S. The engine number is that of an 850 and the Chasssis number is that for the Body number. Furthermore. the colour was Blackberry - a non standard colour. When I bought the car it had cloth seats fitted. The car has a full width "Downton Engineering" dash which fits with the 850cc. I have talked with many"Anoraks" who have confirmed that towards the end of the production (1971) . many cars were released with 850 engines for circuit racing after Downton had worked their magic.
The car was previously owned for 30 years . by a gentleman who did not use the car much. but restored it to where it is now.  The Paint is 20 years old . not concourse but not bad in my opinion for a classic car 43 years on. Shell is solid and has a plate where the 850 "magic wand" was. Suspension is now dry with Hi-Lo's and adjustable SPAX's. The 1275 "A" engine was fully overhauled professionally (Southam Mini & Metro Centre). Rebuilt and Rolling Road Tested @ 95 bhp/ 6000revs (Std 65bhp). (Engine is green and has tappet plates 11 stud head. work done to replace a 1275 crank with a proper Cooper S one)Twin SU's fed by a Double SU Pump & Filter King (located under Rear seat) from the Twin Tanks with period locking petrol caps. Rebored engine so guess cc now 1293 . RC40 Exhaust  & Oil Cooler. Full details of build list on request. Interior has been replaced with "Newton Commercial" Covers and foams. tc. for the Mk2 Reclining front seats (rare) and the rear seat. BRITAX 3 point harness belts are fitted together with the original (std) lap & diagonal belts in the front. No belts are fitted in the rear. No Radio/CD fitted. Rally-type (Fly-off) handbrake. Works S/S lamp bar + 4 960 SevMarchal Lights. only needs a pair of relays to complete.  Also switch required for the period Lucas (Rear mounted) reversing light. HRW.
MISTRAL minilite style wheels are fitted - new yokohamas on the front rears + spare good. The car will go with a full set (5) of Standard vented original Cooper S steels and Hub caps and Nuts. Boot Board fits over the spare/ Tools on boot liner.
Any questions or viewings please contact me on 01623 811488 or 07570807383I am located 1. 5 miles from Jn29 M1. so easy access. Car is advertised locally seeking offers so may withdraw. My value of the car is in excess of five figures.
The above description is based on my experience and opinion(40 years Engineer).  Please see my Feedback especially of my previous "Classic Cars" - 100%I value this and don't tolerate wasters so please no scammers or idiots go elsewhere.
