SUPERB VERY LOW MILEAGE 1995 BMW 318i

Here is an opportunity to acquire what must be one of the lowest mileage E36 BMW 318i Saloons in existence.

This 1995 BMW 318i was built in the last week of 1994 and first registered on the first of February 1995.

The car has covered just 6. 32 miles since with service history and a BMW dealer visit record sheet to confirm this very low mileage reading.

Kept in a heated garage all its life and just used on very rare occasions.

Presented in near show condition with all its original paintwork. panels and glass.

Would make an ideal addition to a BMW collection. useum piece or ideal show car

The BMW E36 is the third generation of the 3 Series compact executive cars produced by BMW. Development began in 1983. with final design being approved in 1988. It was introduced in late 1990 for Europe and in April 1991 (as a 1992 model) for US and Canada. It was the successor to the E30 3 Series and was eventually replaced by the E46 3 Series in 1998. though E36 coupes were still produced for the 1999 model year. The E36 experienced enormous success in the market. It laid strong foundations for the success that the BMW E46 enjoyed in subsequent years.

Also known as the "dolphin shape". the E36 was sold from 1991 through 1999. All E36 saloons. coupes. and estates employed the "Z-axle" multilink suspension in the rear which had been proven in the Z1. There was a hatchback body style. known as the E36/5 or BMW Compact. In order to save space due to its truncated rear end. the Compact used a rear semi-trailing arm suspension based on the older E30 (also found in the Z3 and M Coupe). instead of the Z-Axle Multilink employed in all other E36's.

In the United States. the four-door E36 were on sale by April 1991. while the E30 coupes were retained until well into 1992 when they were replaced by E36 coupes. The E36 convertible was delayed until 1993.

The hatchback body style. known as the BMW Compact. was introduced in 1995 starting with the 318ti. being very popular in Europe but largely unsuccessful in North America. The "Touring" estate was sold in Europe from 1995. but was not available in the United States.

DOHC engines were used across the range (except in entry level models. see table below). with VANOS variable valve timing introduced in 1993. The 2. 5 L M50B25 used in the 325i models was replaced in 1996 with the 2. 8 L M52B28. creating the 328 line. Another 2. 5 L I6 engine. the M52B25. was reintroduced for 1998 but badged as the 323i rather than 325i. The E36 was the first vehicle to offer a 5-speed automatic transmission. 5HP18 made by ZF.

Many BMW 318i 4 door saloons were destined for fleet users and most were in the hands of sales reps and therefore subject to very high mileages. ere is your chance to acquire a very very low mileage example.

The example we offer was first registered in Cumbria on the 1st of February 1995 by Batemans BMW of Lindale Hill. range- Over-Sands .

The pre delivery inspection being carried out on 13th of January 1995.

The car is finished in BMW Metallic Arctic Silver (Paint code number 309) and has grey cloth trim. 5 speed manual gearbox. lloy wheels. front and rear seat belts. electric front windows. electric door mirrors. Kenwood radio/CD player and overmats.  

The invoice price excluding on the road charges was £16. 75. 00.

The car was sold to a private gentleman in the Cumbria area. He kept the car until January 2012. He then sold the car to a very close friend. who has told us. kept the car for 4 months.   The car lived the first 17 years of its life in the Cumbria area and was serviced and looked after by the supplying dealer. this being confirmed by a BMW specification and dealer visit print out. which is in the history file. The DVLA V5 therefore shows 3 former keepers before the last owner.

We also know that the car was then handled by a well known and respected Classic car dealers in the Wirral. who have confirmed that the car had done just 4. 59 miles when they sold it to the last owner. a lady from Rotherham. who covered a further 1. 73 miles. The mileage now being a genuine 6. 32 miles. We have spoken at length to Batemans BMW who know the car well and confirm that the mileage is correct.

BODYWORK

The BMW is finished in Metallic Arctic Silver

The car retains  all of its factory applied paint finish and is remarkably rust free.

Apart from 2 little scratches on the nearside corner of the front bumper measuring 1/2 inch each and a little scratch on the nearside plastic sill. we are hard put to find any other marks to talk about.

We have not carried out any paint rectification to the car. Furthermore we are unable to find any evidence of any paintwork being carried out prior to the car coming into our hand. The overall condition of the bodywork is excellent.

All door. boot and bonnet shuts are straight and true with no excessive gaps.

No welding has been carried out and none is required.

The car has it's registration number etched on to all its glass for added security.

INTERIOR

The interior is in show condition.

The grey cloth seats and door cards are not marked and show sign of use as one would expect with such a low mileage car.

Carpets not far off new condition. again with no marks or wear having been covered with overmats.

A Kenwood radio/single CD player.

The rear transmission tunnel carpet still has cellophane covering.

The car still has it's original unique BMW torch in the glove box.

UNDER THE BONNET 

Outstanding condition.

No signs of oil or water leaks and no unsightly stains. There again just like the day the car left the factory.

Even the battery has its original insulating cover.

IN THE BOOT

Unmarked boot carpet and trim.

As new boot floor with no signs of water ingress or stains.

As new tool kit and jack.

Unused original spare wheel and tyre.  NB the spare wheel is steel as opposed to alloy road wheels.

Unused first aid kit.

Unused European warning triangle in its original plastic box.

DRIVING

Starts first turn of the key with automatic choke which settles down beautifully as normal operating temperature is attained.

The car performs perfectly on the open road with no undue transmission or road noise.

The 5 speed box is smooth and works just as it should.

The brakes and suspension perform as one would expect from a car that is not yet run in.

The BMW rides on alloy wheels and are fitted with Continental 'Super Contact' 185/65x1 tyres. which as you would expect are as near as new as you expect at 6. 00 miles.
