Meet “Maroni”. my dad's beautiful 1946 Mercury Coupe.  

This immaculately maintained '46 has been restored the right way.   This magnificent car is the perfect combination of ultra bright chrome and a stunning DYNAMIC MAROON paintjob – hence “Maroni”.   The body of Maroni is straight as an arrow – absolutely gorgeous. Every single component that needed attention on this vehicle has been gone through. and either replaced. rebuilt. or improved while keeping the “classic” look of the 40's era.   While Maroni has retained the classic style it has been thoroughly upgraded and modernized for modern conveniences. performance. and safety.   The car has been pampered the past 18 years and has only been stored in a garage and has always been covered.   The car comes with a table that fits in the trunk for car shows.   This car is a multiple award-winning classic 1946 Mercury Coupe.   It is a rare gem.   In person. this classic stunner is a crowd pleaser.  

The thorough restoration process was finally completed at the end of last year.   Below is an honest description of the vehicle.   I have taken my time to list as much information as possible. The reason my dad is selling his beloved 1946 Mercury is to plan for my parent's retirement.   I am a professor at Cal State University and am not a “car seller” – I am just helping my parents sell their beloved '46 so they can start their future.   My dad also shares his “birth year” with Maroni. hence the personalized license plate.   The car is priced to sell.   If you would like to speak to my dad I can arrange that as well.   Maroni is located in beautiful Dana Point. CA.   The car has ALWAYS been garaged and has absolutely no signs of any sort of car accident.   Feel free to come an inspect it with a fine tooth comb – it's the real deal.

You will not find a more meticulously restored 1946 Mercury Coupe for this price. period.   Over the years. tens of thousands of dollars have been invested into this car along with countless hours of skilled labor during restoration.   In short. the car has been restored the right way.

DRIVE TRAIN: The strong running performance 350 cubic inch engine and transmission (4-barrel Holley) run like a dream.   The engine runs cool and does NOT overheat whatsoever.   The car brakes well and the power steering makes it an easy drive.   The car has both power brakes and steering (front disk brakes). The engine is dressed in “old school” finned valve covers and equipped with a A/C and an electric fan.   It also has a brand new 1-wire alternator.   Maroni has a Mustang II front end and rack and pinion steering.   Brand new front and rear coil springs were put on the Bilstein shocks.   The car also has a new heavy duty DieHard Battery.   Moreover. my dad even put in a new stainless steel gas tank.   Lot's of money have been put into Maroni and my dad has thousands of dollars in receipts that come with the car.

BODY/PAINT: The ALL STEEL body of this distinguished 1946 coupe is VERY straight.  No bondo here.   It is lazer straight.   The beautiful original color Dynamic Maroon paint job is EXCELLENT and DEEP.   No dings!  Since restoration the car has always been garaged and covered and has not seen rain or any type of inclement weather.   A nice car cover comes with the vehicle.   My dad has mainly driven the car around Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point. CA where he lives.   In my opinion. the paint job is outstanding. It is quite deep and glossy.   The exterior chrome bumpers and moldings are also in outstanding shape.  The lights all work and are free of cracks.  In terms of rust – there is none!  The undercarriage looks absolutely fantastic.   Come see it for yourself.   The tires have plenty of tread left.

CHROME: All of the chrome has been redone on this car and it looks absolutely stunning.  All stainless steel has been professionally polished and maintained and really looks gorgeous.   The car also has the original scripted Mercury hubcaps.

INTERIOR: The mohair interior is in excellent condition without any tears or rips and is 2 years old.   The trunk had the carpet kit replaced along with the spare tire cover 2 years ago.   All of the ORIGINAL gauges including the clock are in working order (except for original radio and wipers).   Repairing all of the gauges was not cheap – but it was worth it.   

OPTIONS: Maroni is loaded with modern day conveniences.   The Mercury is equipped with a Vintage Air A/C system and new heater box.   It works fantastic.   The car also has a new tilt “I Did It” steering wheel.   My dad is a tall man (former basketball player with size 16 shoe!). so he had the seat completely redone to accommodate people from 5'2-6'8!  The glove compartment hides a very nice CD player as well.
