An extremely original car. which has been with one owner for 42 years! Correct. ‘unmolested' and complete with most tools. etc. Not used for several years. having been taken off the road due to a worn ring gear. meaning that the car needed the assistance of the starting handle. There is considerable rust in the sills and some other areas. but the car runs well. and would make a rewarding restoration project. or could perhaps be re-bodied as a special. Complete with a brand new flywheel. to eradicate the starting issue.

Chassis No. B269WG. Reg No. HNE 400. £9. 00.

Snippets – Northampton Shoemakers: B269WG was delivered to Noel Timpson a descendant of two cousins. one from a well known Northampton Shoemaking family. who in the mid 1880s married each other & created the Timpson dynasty. William Timpson (1849/29) wed Elizabeth Fairey (1850/91) (also spelt Farey) but after just 20 years of marriage & discovering that she was pregnant with her 9th child she took her own life. In 1893 William married again this time to Katherine C. Mursell (20 yrs his junior) and the daughter of one of his partners T. A. Mursell. Katherine's older sister Fanny Maud Mursell was married to William's other partner David F. Gotch – descended from the Quaker Thomas Gotch (1748/1806) who founded Kettering's first shoe & leather business in 1778. William & Katherine had a further 4 children the eldest being Noel - the owner of B269WG. Noel joined the family firm & succeeded his eldest half-brother William as chairman in 1960. tragically both brothers died within a few weeks of Noel's appointment & William's retirement. The next company name on the chassis cards is Ames Crosta Mills & Co with James Frankland Bolton. MD. taking delivery of the car. J. F. Bolton started working at Ames Crosta Mills in 1907 & worked his way through the ranks to become M. D. in 1954 & then later Chairman. He retired from the firm in 1968 and during his time with the firm took out several international patents for use with filtration.
