1977 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1500 SPORTS CONVERTIBLE

I have owned this Spitfire for over 5 years and in that time it has been fully restored. it's not concourse but it's been restored to a good standard making it a very useable classic car. it looks fantastic with fresh yellow paint and re trimmed interior with leather high back seats and new hood.  

It's every bit as good as the pictures suggest and it runs brilliantly with a re built engine and full new stainless steel exhaust system and it stops well on it's fully refurbished brakes.

The restoration work I have done is listed below but this is only a summary. I have spent thousands and thousands of pounds and hundreds of man hours getting the car to the condition it's in today. there are many small items that have been replaced that are not listed.

Body work.

Both rear wings and outer wheel arches replaced with steel panels. headlamp mounting panels replaced on both sides. chassis front cross member replaced. all other body work was sound. the car still has it's original cills & floor etc. it's had a full respray. There is no rust what so ever on this car.

Interior.

Leather high back reclining seats. new carpets. re trimmed door cards and new hood. new rubber door and window seals.

Brakes.

New front bake discs & callipers. rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders replaced. all four flexi hoses replaced. all brake pipes from the bulkhead back have been replaced.

Engine.

Re ground crankshaft. new main and big end bearings. bores honed and new piston rings fitted. all oil seals and gaskets replaced. cylinder head valves re ground. new distributor and battery. all oils and filters recently changed.

Other mechanical items.

Full stainless steel exhaust system. new universal joints on rear drive shafts. 4 new Goodyear 165/ 60 / 13 tyres (There is a spare rim but it has no tyre)

The car had been dry stored off the road for over 20 years before I bought it. the restoration took 4 years and I put the Spitfire on the road last summer. I did about 1000 miles during the summer and it never let me down once. it's a huge amount of fun and gets admired everywhere it goes. people wave and want to look at the car when it's parked.

I put the car off the road last September so it's never been driven in the wet since the restoration was completed. the MOT is now due and I'll put a full 12 months MOT on the car for the new owner. it's currently not taxed and on SORN.

The Spitfire is incredibly cheap to run. I paid £65 for a years fully comp insurance through a classic car specialist broker (Lancaster) and the road tax is £77 for 6 months.

Payment will be strictly cash on collection. I have the V5 in my name. the car will be sold as seen with no warranty.

The car is located in Glenfarg Scotland about 30 miles north of Edinburgh. 12 miles south of Perth. just off junction 8 of the M90 motorway.
