Triumph Spitfire Mk2 1966

Sale price: £3,750.00 make an offer

Car location: Blewbury, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom

Seller's notes: A Spitfire Mk2 in good working order with long MoT (March) and sound body and chassis. This car is a good “daily runner” but is not in perfect or concourse condition. I have the V5 and it is taxed as a historic vehicle (which of course is free). Ready to drive away and enjoy this Spring! It has been kept in a dry garage for many years. It is fairly original spec although I suspect the overdrive has been added and of course the roll bar is added.

Sale type: Fixed price listing

The body was restored by the previous owner a few years ago (see his pic of the floor) and is in good solid condition all round.   No welding is needed as far as I am aware.   There are a few small signs of surface rust beginning to show and there are stone chips and minor dents. and a few areas where flaky paint has been touched up.   The boot lid has been well repaired using steel and some glass fibre.   I believe the rest of the body is all steel.   Chrome work is in useable condition but not great.   In particular the front bumper and over riders are not quite straight – must have had a bump at some point.

The engine starts easily when hot or cold. and runs well.   A new stainless exhaust has just been fitted.   The gearbox is quiet and easy to use and the overdrive functions correctly.   Clutch is fine and has a new slave cylinder.   The diff works well but is beginning to whine slightly.   Suspension. steering. brakes and electrics all work well.   Battery is about 1 year old.   The car has just passed its MoT with no advisories.   The speedo cable has broken but I will supply a new one and fit it if I have time.   The wire wheels have good splines and there are no clunks.   All four tyres are Woosung 155R13 and are in very good condition (over 6mm tread).

The interior is in good condition with new carpets fitted throughout by the previous owner.   The seats are in generally good condition but the drivers seat has a split (see pic) and the passenger seat a much smaller split in a similar position.

The soft top is in very good condition but needs a thorough clean.   Windows are very clear.   The frame is in good working order.   There is also a tonneau cover included which is in generally good condition apart from a patch (about 100mm long) which has been sewn in.

The car is sold as seen and there are no returns.    Please check the photos carefully and come and see it before bidding.   If you bid you are bidding to buy not to view.   Payment must be £500 by PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction with cash on collection for the balance within 7 days of the end of the auction.
