Welcome to the sale of my 1967 Jaguar MK2 3. 4 automatic and your opportunity to own a wonderful classic car. ready for shows and summer cruising!

RMG 208F started her life in the factory on the 30th June 1967 and was sold to one of the partners at Strutt Parker Lofts and Warner. property consultants of Lewes. Sussex on the 1st August 1967. It was then bought by Mr Cheetham of Huntingdon (for the princely sum of £895. 00!) on the 28th May 1971. who traded in his Hillman Minx for it! The car stayed in his possession. remaining in his garage from 1981 and having eventually fallen into a state of disrepair. until the 6th July 2004 when it was bought by Mr Thurston of Rushden. who spent 3 years restoring the car to approaching it's former original glory. I bought the car from him and RMG has been in my possession since the 25th July 2007. Since the 1st August 1967. RMG has only travelled a total of 71. 00 miles – with the engine being fully rebuilt at 69. 53 miles!

The car was in lovely restored-to-original condition when I bought her but I decided to take things to another level and commissioned Jaguar specialists Flying Cat Engineering of Royston to undertake some extensive works to make the car better suited to modern day driving and comfort. along with some stylish additions.

Works completed in my ownership have included:

New Coopercraft four-pot calliper disc brakes

New SNG Barratt power steering system

New alternator

New high torque starter motor

New Kenlowe electric fan

New Gaz adjustable shock absorbers

New halogen headlamps

New side lights

New off-white Smith's instruments fitted (speedo and tacho refurbished to match)

Fitting of XJ6 front seats

Re-trimming of all the seats and centre console with top quality leather

Re-lacquering of all the woodwork

New carpets

New red inertia reel seat belts

All door and screen rubbers replaced

New Motolita walnut steering wheel

Four new chrome wire wheels and spinners – with four new Pirelli P4000 tyres

New Coombes style rear spats (metal – not fibreglass!)

Most panels re-painted to the highest standard

New brake master cylinder

New SNG Barratt upgraded brake servo

Carburettors rebuilt and tuned

Boot mounted remote controlled Sanyo multi CD player and Retrosound stereo radio fitted             (the original Motorola radio remains in place and is working)

Electric aerial fitted

Various service item upgrades and day to day bits and pieces

The car is presented in the rare and most stunning. virtually flawless. Opalescent Golden Sand paintwork. with magnificent contrasting red leather interior. The chrome wire wheels really set the car off and the engine sounds superb through the stainless steel exhaust.

This is not how it came out of the factory but in my opinion it is much better! The engine holds superb oil pressure and has so much torque it's easy to see why the MK2 was the favoured car for those wanting speed in the 1960's – if you know what I mean…. RMG has the favoured 3. 4 litre engine along with the later type Borg & Warner three speed automatic gearbox. This makes for effortless driving. allowing you to enjoy the car without the drudge of gear changing. The throttle is extremely responsive and the car pulls away as spritely as any modern car – and can keep up with and outdo many of them too! Taste in cars can be subjective and my car might not be to a ‘purists' liking. To me. though. she is pretty much perfect and the upgrades I have completed over the last 5+ years make the car stylish. comfortable. reliable. quick and imposing. And. judging by the many compliments I receive. I am not alone. The Jaguar Drivers Club also liked the car. featuring her in their magazine!

I have the Jaguar Heritage Certificate number 32368. confirming the history and matching numbers of the vehicle. I also have a thick file with many old MOT's. service receipts. history information and photographic records of the restoration.

This is a beautiful car that has cost me far in excess of what I am asking for it. The refurbishment journey has been long and thorough and the new owner can look forward to many admiring glances. plenty of compliments and many years of happy motoring. I have always run the car on Shell V power only (of course. the car has hardened valves and so unleaded fuel is fine) and use Duckhams Q mineral oil. I also have a spare set of new and hard to find original Champion spark plugs to go with the vehicle. The original and complete toolkit is also with the car.

Please remember. this lady is 46 years young and so has some patina that you would naturally expect from such an age and not as you would expect to find in a brand new car. straight from the factory. I would say you will have to go a long. long way to find a MK2 in better condition at anywhere near my price. All in all. RMG is a very genuine and honest car that can be hard to find these days and simply exudes quality in every aspect. RMG has indeed led a justifiably pampered existence!

The pictures were taken today. after I took the car for an MOT. I had my camera with me and the heavens opened! I still took the pictures – and then spent over an hour drying the car! Only the second time I've been caught in the rain – five minutes earlier. it was sunny! You have to love the British weather…….

I don't have the time to enjoy the car fully (having driven less than 1600 miles in nearly 6 years) and it is now time for RMG to find a new home. to be cherished and enjoyed by a new and proud owner.

Viewings and inspections are welcomed. the pictures don't do the car justice – please be sure to bring proof of insurance if you want to drive. otherwise I will be more than happy to take you out as a passenger. Serious enquiries only. please. and sensible offers close to the asking price will be considered. Cash or cleared funds only.

Naturally. road tax is free and the car has a full 12 months MOT. Insurance is surprisingly cheap (obviously dependent upon history and area) and I pay only £78 per annum through Heritage Insurance.

Thank you.
