1983 MERCEDES “W123” 200 AUTO. 66k MILES ONLY. FSH. NEW MOT.  FAMILY OWNED FOR ALMOST 30 YRS

It is with great reluctance that I am selling my late father (Len's) Mercedes 200 Automatic. We purchased this car in 1985. when it was only about 2 years old. and had done only about 15. 00 miles. It has been kept in the family ever since. and is in beautiful condition. The signal red paintwork is largely original and the black fabric trim and interior is  virtually unmarked and unworn. It has always been garaged and serviced far more often than necessary (including oil changes every 3000 miles approx). Unfortunately. the pictures do not do it justice and there is absolutely no rust or any other trim/paint defects. The paint and trim inside the boot and under the bonnet are all in perfect condition.

“Len” (registration DLN) has covered a total mileage of approx. 66. 00. The reason I say “approx. ” is that the odometer (milometer) stuck at 65. 99 miles several years ago when the car was in storage. Not wishing to change the original speedometer (which otherwise works perfectly) I have left it as it is. Since then it has covered a maximum of 500 miles including a trip to Devon last year. which was its last long run. and on which it performed perfectly. Prior to this. it was used to bring my father to my daughter's wedding before he passed away. and had been always been stored in our garage. There is a complete record of everything done since we owned the car including most/all of the MOT's and service invoices.

The 4 cylinder 2000 cc engine was the most economical of the “W123” series cars and averages about 25mpg with the automatic gearbox. which is also in perfect condition. Note that this model is fitted with the simple and reliable "Stromberg" carb. and does not have fuel injection. which means there is no expensive or complicated fuel pump or injectors to replace (I also have a Stromberg manual by the way although we have never needed to use it!!). She passed the MOT last week with absolutely NO advisories and emissions were perfect. and emissions were perfect. She has all good tyres. exhaust and a new battery was fitted recently. She has a factory fitted manual sunroof. central locking and mud flaps. The only original radio/cassette player no longer works as it is not digital. but again I have left this as it was. The electric areal does not retract properly. but this can easily be changed.

There is very little more to say other than whoever buys this car will have a car to be proud of in future years. if it is kept in the same condition. It is also very “useable” and easy to drive. even though it is now over 30 years old. I am listing this car as a classified ad. as we are in no rush to sell and would prefer that it goes to a  good home. There is a large history file and all original handbooks etc. are with the car. including old and new V5's. There are 2 sets of keys and she has central locking. The last road tax expired in October 2013 and she is currently on a SORN.

Inspection is invited by serious potential buyers. Please call Steve on 0117 9674886 or mobile 07890948758  for an appointment to view. He is handling the sale for me. as I would prefer it to be done by a third party. Potential buyers are recommended to inspect the vehicle. as it is over 30  years old. to satisfy themselves that the description is accurate.   Location is very easy to find in  Warmley. Bristol. at the junction of the A420 and A4174 East Bristol ring road.

The reason we are finally selling is that I am going to do a development project soon and will lose the garage space for a while. The only caveat I will add is that if the buyer ever wishes to sell in future I would like first refusal before it is offered for sale again. Thanks for reading this advert and all email questions will be dealt within 24 hours.
