This is one of the very last of the Scimitar models and has the galvanised chassis that these last few were fitted with. The photographs were taken when the car arrived. it has been cleaned and the wheels polished since then! Mechanically it appears sound and has just passed an MOT with no advisories. It starts and drives nicely. There is a towbar fitted with 7 pin single electrics. I have not tested the electrics though.

In the recent past. it has had a new gearbox and a new engine. These were fitted by main dealers QRG in Kettering. I have a file of receipts and other paperwork showing its history. Servicing and MOTs in the past were also carried out by QRG. From the paperwork. I estimate that the engine has done around 20K miles and the gearbox about half of that. Running temperature seems stable at just under 90 degrees C. where it should be.

Recently. the car has had a replacement carburettor (Weber 38DGAS converted to manual choke). new Otter switch seal. driver's seat suspension replaced. faulty earth on front n/s indicator fixed. wiper wheelboxes serviced. rear fog lamp contacts cleaned up so now they work. the rat's nest of wiring to the electric fan sorted out and a half hearted leather treatment. the cream will be handed over to the new owner! The spare wheel tray has been repaired with new metal and painted.

The paintwork has been rather poorly resprayed. It is a good 10 yard body. but close up there is evidence of poor workmanship. runs and orange peel for instance. On the roof. there is a 2 inch square repaired area that needs a drop of paint. The passenger door has some microblistering and the glass for the door mirror is not present. There is a glass sunroof fitted. however that has been sealed shut by a previous owner.

Interior wise. the seats are in good condition and will benefit from finishing the cream treatment. The carpets have been replaced in the past with domestic ones by the seem of it.
On the centre console. there is a hole where there probably used to be a switch. The headlining has been removed for replacement and the original complete with hangers is in the hatch area for use as a pattern. The armrest cover has a covering of duct tape. I assume it may be split underneath so I have made a replacement in black that the new owner is welcome to if wanted.

Electrics all work with the exception of the electric mirror joystick. The stalk on that has snapped off. I have found an SS1 joystick that may fit and will supply that to the new owner. The hatch has a solenoid fitted and is operated by a switch on the steering wheel shroud.
There is a Sony radio CD player fitted. although it seems to be missing its outer trim.

In summary. a good every day car that will suit someone who wants to make it beautiful again. without having to get too mechanically involved. The car can be taxed before collection (at cost). so it can be driven away if the new owner wishes.

Viewing is strongly recommended and the car can be seen at any reasonable time. With a little notice. I can put the car on a lift for underside inspection too.
