Volvo 240 DL Wagon - well-preserved, great for the Volvo enthusiast for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 390 votes
I'm selling to fellow Volvo enthusiasts a well-preserved but with patina 1985 Volvo 240 wagon.  I bought this car from the original owner in Whidbey Island last year.  My dad bought a similar brand new one back in 1983 and we kept in the family until it got sadly totaled two years ago.  Amazingly. its original engine was still running well at close to 500. 00 miles.

Back to this car. I found this car on a quest for another well-taken cared Volvo 240 and for a fun car project with my Dad.  As you may see from photos. the car's original paint and interior has lasted very well especially for its mileage.  The original owner always had the car garaged.  The clock is clear but has stopped working; the original radio works.  The AC also works well as a defroster with the infamously warm Volvo heater.

I not only have receipts of all the work done since I bought it. but also receipts since it was brand new.  I even have the original window sticker (purchased in Portland) for this car!

My goal was to enjoy mechanically sorting this car with my dad.  A vast majority of the work was done by Volvo mechanics. while we did source the parts from IPD and some eBay original parts sellers.  I have the receipts for the work done. but here is a list:

Timing belt and tensioner. etc.
Water pump
Distributor
Coil wires
Spark plugs
Seals/gaskets
All oil changes and filters - engine. transmission. differential
Engine compression test
Radiator flush and hose replacements
Engine wire harness
Header and complete cat back exhaust (properly welded)
Ignition control unit
Neutral safety switch
Fuel rail
Ball joints
Steering rod
IPD sway bars
Bilstein heavy duty shocks and struts
All new Michelin tires
New brake lines and master cylinder
Engine breather/flame trap
Fuel pump relay
New oil dipstick
Minor dent removal
Rust inhibitor application
Headlights

Extra parts but not installed (not needed at this time):

Extra water pump
Suspension bushings
In-tank fuel pump kit
Brake junction block

As mentioned. I also have the receipts from the original owners including ECM replacement. regular oil changes. steering rack and boot work. iming belt replacements. tires. motor mounts.  The list goes on; the best thing is to come take a look at the car and see for yourself.

Anyway. I've been reliably daily driving the car for the last several weeks to/from Seattle and Eastside.  I'm very happy with the way it drives and handles.  Alas. it's time for another fun project with my retired Dad.

This is the Volvo "brick" wagon for you if you're looking for:
1.  A nicely preserved and reliable daily-driver2.  Depreciation-free (though more of these cars seem to be gaining price-wise) 3.  Great provenance/history.
Reserve is much lower than our expenses.   Serious inquiries only please.  I can be available for a live discussion:  (425) seven 5 0 5 0 seven 5.

Happy motoring!

Having been asked about the body condition. I'd like to share the following:
As I mentioned in the original description. I applied rust inhibitor.  There was some evidence of side rear window leaks in the past (a common occurrence in this model); this translated to some rust developing in the rear panel area.  Therefore. I applied POR-15 to such areas to stop rust.     Other than this. the paint is in great shape as seen in photos.
Also. there are repaired cracks on the front windshield.  Speaking of cracks. the dash has some; but again as you can see from the photos. it is minor.  This has. after all. been mostly a Pacific Northwest car i. e. less sun damage.
If you would like specific photos. I'm happy to provide.
