John Page. the Service Manager of Jensen Motors Ltd in West Bromwich was once asked which Interceptor he thought was the best. Was it the Mk I. Mk II or Mk III? Mr Page explained that they were all good cars but in his opinion a Mk II with the E series 383ci engine and the Carter AVS carburettor was the best incarnation of the iconic car. For sale here we have Mk II Interceptor chassis number 123/4031. The registration number is YON 635J. This car left the factory on 14. 1. 71 in cerise (maroon) with beige interior. The vehicle is an abandoned restoration project. The last owner was an elderly gent. He had a former Aston Martin panel beater replaced the inner sill. outer sills. door step panels and front valance. This has been done to a good standard. The car is now very solid with none of the usual Interceptor nightmares. The inner sills (a big and difficult job) have been replaced to a good standard. The floors are all solid. The rear inner wings (wheelhouses to the Amercans) have been repaired to a good standard. The bonnet is totally solid and original. Front wings good. The rear quarters have been repaired to a good standard. The tailgate is very solid. It appears to have been media blasted in the past and has been recently treated with rust converter. The doors are solid. the nearside having had a recent new doorskin. The interior is still very attractive and supple (see photos. ) The engine turns over by hand and I doubt that it would take much work to get it running again. I have taken several photos of the parts that come with the car. The only items not in the photos are the spare wheel carrier and some chrome trim pieces (forget to get them out of the boot. ) There is no battery with the car so a new one will be required. I have also forgotten to photograph the two door frames and door glasses. These are in good condition. Many people make the mistake of buying a "together" Interceptor with a reasonable paint job only to find that the inner sills are badly corroded and they have a £3. 00-£4. 00 bill to have the job done properly. The inner sills have been done on this car and all the repairs lead loaded (Aston Martin influence no doubt. ) This is a very solid Interceptor and in my humble opinion is the ideal project. If I was going to keep it I'd invest some time and money in getting it running then put it into a decent classic car bodyshop to be prepped and painted. I forgot to take a decent interior picture. The dash is as original. It has the original Mk II steering wheel. Likewise I didn't take an engine bay photo. It's a typical old Interceptor engine bay. everything is there (except battery. ) If you are interested in acquiring a solid Interceptor bring your bodywork man along to view it. you won't be disappointed. If you want to look underneath you're welcome. Interceptor prices have risen sharply over the past 12 months. Don't miss the boat. this is a great first Jensen project. I forgot to take the odometer reading. I'll list it later. not that it's that relevant with an old Interceptor. The car has four Wolfrace mag slot alloys however if you'd rather have a set of Interceptor GKN alloys I could fit a set of those. I would strongly recommend that you come and view this old girl which is at my friend's garage in Ilkeston. Derby. Good luck. Any questions just ask. (NB - the successful bidder has the option of paying my friend. a Jensen specialist. to get the car running. )
