1976 RS 2000 MK2 ESCORT In Black

 You are looking at a very early. incredibley straight RS 2000 MK2 Escort. Clean and straight under the bonnet with a 2. 0 litre Pinto (over head cam in my day) with twin choke webber carb. standard air box. (correct) RS Manifold. Stainless Janspeed exhaust system with a Scorpion Tail. coupled to the correct 4 speed gearbox. The mileage on the speedometer today reads a mere 55074 and appears to be genuine. The previous owner claims this within the paperwork I have for the car and the limited histroy I have also shows little mileage within the last few years. I have owned the car since August 2011 and I have only done approx 100 miles inbetween the last MOT's. V5 states RS 2000 with the GCAT vin number.

The previous owner claimed new Bilsteins. complete new brakes alround. refurbed alloys with new Yoko tyres. The tyres are as new but are of a 50 profile. Personally. I bl**dy hate them!! You can pull away in 2nd and top speed is limited but you get there very quickly. Because the tyres are so new. I haven't had the heart to change them but although the car gives you great control down windey little lanes. I prefer the comfort of the larger profile tyre.

Inside. "Custom" interior. no sunroof. no speaker holes in doors or rear shelf. Interior all complete. seats with fishnets etc. drivers seat just starting to show age related wear as can be seen in the photo's. Top of dash has some sun damage also shown in photo's. The car benefits from a Clifford Alarm / Imobiliser.

Paintwork is good all round although could probably do with a polish. No cracks or blemishes and the slight mark on the passenger door in picture 3 looks to be the flash from the camera. I had just got the car out of the garage to take the pictures and the light was beginning to fade but the car hasn't just been washed like so many you can see?? The car is dusty as seen in the pictures and the wheels desperately need a clean. The car was running when taking pictures hence the choke splatter from the exhaust. The "red" petrol cap within the pictures is off the red RS I have and is not part of the sale. I took the chrome locking cap off the black one when I went out in the red one and will replace before the end of auction.

The car has obviously had work done to it in its time and I don't pretend or portray that this is a one lady owner. barn find etc. etc. It is however a solid 2. 0 over head cam RS Escort with a strong drive line that recently passed its MOT in December 2014 and is taxed until end of Sep 2014. A straight little car that drives well for 37 years old although the 50 profile tyres let it down in my opinion.
