This car was built in Dagenham United Kingdom. Believed to be the last of this model surviving Worldwide. to be built in the UK (only built here for 12 months). Such a unique car. this has attracted famous ownership. Royal Invites & TV Fame as a result.

As such a rare important car. it has been on display at the Dagenham heritage centre for many years and has featured in the Ford 75th Anniversary TV advert. Julian Pettifor's film "A Special Relationship" (about the history of Ford in Britain) and also attended two visits to sandringham (1984 & 85) at the invitation of the Queen Mother.

CONDITION

This car has done 54. 00 miles and is believed to be genuine and was found in the mid - 70's in a sad but sound condition in east London with only 50. 00 miles. The car had some light restoration work done. but only to the bodywork. when it was painted black and the front bumper rechromed.

In 1980 the rear body was stripped of it's varnish and resealed and some work to the interior wood. All the woodwork was retained & is again original. & is described by Chris Sanders of the V8 club as "in original condition".

HISTORY WITH FORD

Henry the "WOODY" had been the pride and joy of the Cheif Press Officer and Public Relations Manager for Ford. Derek Sansom from 1981 until 2000. It was used to promote Motorcraft competitions. was in the Ford 75th anniversary TV advert and the 75th pageant of motoring at Brands Hatch. It was also on display at the Dagenham Heritage Centre For 6 years.

THE ROYAL STORY

A Pilot Woody was specially built for King George VI and was restored for the Queen Mother to go on display at Sandringham. So she always had a soft spot for the " WOODY " and this is why our car was invited by the Queen Mother to attend two visits to Sandringham in 1984 & 85 and also has been used for the Royal Tournament on two occasions. At one of the visits to Sandringham one of the photographs taken was used as a basis for a royal stamp - Queen Mothers "life and times" stamp for St Helena.

FILM AND TV

The WOODY is also a TV and film celebrity starring in the Ford 75th Anniversary and the cars through the ages commercials. It has also starred in the Julian Pettifor's film " A Special Relationship " this was about the history of Ford in Britain.
