1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite< 31K VERIFIED miles! Orig eng, new paint VIDEO!

I bought this car from the second owner. a long time Healey club member. and told me the story of the car as relayed by the original owner.  
This car was purchased in 1961 and driven infrequently. The second owner purchased the car with about 22k miles on it. brought it to Arizona. put about 10k miles on it and sold it to me. Generally I take these stories with a grain of salt. but this particular car has the ORIGINAL green rubber floor mats which are completely impossible to find. The reason they are rare is because the rubber is thin and they got damaged from people kicking the cross member getting in and out-they didn't last. This car has really nice rubber mats with minimal wear which makes the mileage quite plausible! (these are not the crappy black repro mats you can buy-but the original green rubber mats that came with the car).
Also. nbsp;the seats are original and in great shape. The door linings are original and in great shape. The original helmet battery terminals are still fit and in great shape. The original carburetors work great. Original air filters. Original brakes and springs. Unfortunately. the original rubber tunnel mat was replaced-those seemed to perish from sun exposure-the carpet mat in place is well executed. The car is remarkably solid. The engine is correct and original to the car. This is a particularly rare example and very special to find.  We have sold 115 Bugeyes and we have never had a car like this one. Many people claim low mileage--this is the real deal!
When we got the car it's only weakness was some blistering in the lower front and rear of the rocker panels. common on Bugeyes. We cut out and welded in correct steel panels and eliminated all rust on the vehicle. We then painted the rockers. I wasn't happy with the color match so we stripped and painted the entire car in the correct original leaf green.  The car had already been repainted once by the original owner in about 1965 from tree sap damage he got from parking under a tree while he was at college. he reported. so because the car had been repainted once. we decided to repaint the whole car and make it right. It now has no rust and a beautiful new paint job. in the correct original paint color that originally came on the car.
There was no other rust when we stripped the paint. Original floors are excellent. with no rust!
There was no body damage. and no dents. as you might expect on a 32k mile car.
We have not had a Bugeye like this. and I doubt we will find another ! If you love collectible cars with great stories. then this is great car for you!

The interior on this car is unique. The original owner said that he saw a Bugeye in the BMC dealer parking lot where he purchased the car with this same wood kit. He asked the dealer for the same interior to be fit to his new Bugeye. Apparently that dealership had someone on staff who was making these custom kits at the time. Never seen another like it. but it was originally fit to this car by the dealer. and thus we have chosen to leave it intact as part of the unique original heritage of this car.
The car drives beautifully and sounds great as you can see in the video.  Engine number 9cu-h 38502-948 CC-strong-no smoke. great oil pressure. great fun!
We have gone through the car and sorted any minor mechanical issues and the car is ready to go. We have had 115 Bugeyes through our shop and know how to set them up properly. One of our recent customers picked up his Bugeye from us in CT and drove it to his home in Atlanta. a 20 hour trip of nearly 1000 miles. He did this in February. drove overnight (ALMOST NON-STOP!) and drove in sub freezing temps. It was quite an adventure and he completed it without issue. We set up that car for him.
