Ford Escort RS2000 Custom mk2 1980

A very rare chance to buy a fantastic. iconic. Genuine Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 Custom. This is my personal car and was bought by me in 2001. I then spent 12 years bringing it up to how you see it today. with not a single nut or bolt left untouched. either refurbished. replaced. or cleaned and re-greased. Externally and internally it is basically as Mr Ford intended (as per the chassis plate 'Custom' options). with the only visible external enhancements being the Genuine Ronal 7x13 RS 4-Spokes and the slightly lowered (1") stance.

Internally it has an absolutely immaculate Chocolate Brown 'Custom' spec interior with Fishnet Beta Cloth Recaro seats. all original (not recovered in the wrong material). 'Custom' carpeted door cards. and the essential 'Custom' Dash sticker. which is actually a Genuine NOS item collected during the rebuild. And period details like the 1980's MW/LW push button Ford Radio.

Under the bonnet lurks the original Pinto engine (correct original numbers) but it is overbored 0. 5mm with Hepolite pistons. Gas Flowed head with now very rare Paul-Ivey REC wasted larger inlet valves. and GSXR throttle bodies on a fully mappable MBE ECU.

The drivetrain is fully reconditioned. with all brand new parts. Limited-slip-diff. Panhard-rod. GAZ adjustable dampers. poly-bushed. etc. etc. 5-speed gearbox (I have the original 4-speed also).

The body has been extensively restored. Genuine Ford inner and outer wings among other parts. then finished in the original Signal yellow. The underside has been heavily coated in Schultz. and every cavity filled with Waxoyl.

It has had just 2 Previous owners. one change of owner in 1982 (IIRC) and then me in 2001. I have an A4 folder of history. invoices. photos. old MoT's. old-type V5. and virtually every part I have bought. I know every inch of this car and can answer almost any question on it. There are many. many more details but far too many to write here. but I am simply not using it (50 miles since the rebuild) so it is time to move on to a new project.
