Ford Capri 2.0S 1983 A Reg

Here is (my son's) 1983 2. 0S which has been owned. loved and cared by him since September 2009. It's covered around 81. 00 miles which I believe to be genuine.

The car has been used as an everyday car during the summer months only as well as for going to shows up and down the country such as the Classic Ford Show and the Ford Fair. It has been garaged and SORN during the winter so not used with all the grit/salt on the roads so is therefore off the road at the moment and will require taxing. MOT is valid until July (no advisories from last year)

As for the overall bodywork it is very solid having had only minor welding to floor sills in the past. condition wise is very presentable and is not out of place at any meet / show. there are one or two rust bubbles coming through. some are bigger than others but the metal underneath appears solid. The worst places at the moment are at the base of the bonnet by the grille and on the inside of the driver's door. close up photos can be provided upon request.   I have kept an eye on the areas where Capris usually rust and there is either none or very little. The suspension tops are also solid with one of them having a very small line of rust which has stayed the same size and severity for about 3 years. The corners of the engine bay are showing signs but again appears solid.

As for the engine. running gear etc they are all in great condition; I would have absolutely no concerns about jumping in it and driving a few hundred miles and back.

 The engine has been rebuilt and converted to run on unleaded so there is no need for any additives to be used. The car did have some restoration work done by specialists in Blackpool around 2006 and I have had to do very little to it since apart from general maintenance. The electrics work fine. however the rear heated window is intermittent. The original radio does work however the tape player is very tired and could do with either replacing or repairing. Heater works on both speeds as well plus the dash is all crack free.

Please remember this car is 31 years old now and it does show it's age in a few places but it is a huge head turner. I've lost count of how many times people have asked me about it at petrol stations and saying their dad had one. I do still have to put the original Dark Grey / Light Grey pinstripe S interior back in. currently there is a 2. 8 injection ‘Carla' interior in at the moment which I would like to keep but I may consider leaving it in the car. The wheels are 2. 8i Pepperpots which are in great condition as are the Firestone tyres. one of them is practically brand new and it's covered barely 200 miles since it was put on the car. There is a spare one that can be supplied but it has been puncture repaired. This car is very well known amongst the community of the Capri Power Forum. so if you would like an outside opinion the people on that forum would be good to ask.
