As you can see it is fundamentally original. It doesn't have non standard wheels. its not lowered; it is more or less as it was when it left the dealership 44 years ago. However. it has. had renovation work carried out over the years which has been sympathetically done to retain the original charm of this vehicle. It was purchased by my daughter in April 2005 as her first car and it has been her daily driver ever since. She is now married and no longer requires it.
During her ownership it has been regularly maintained and has undergone renovation when required. Some bodywork repairs were carried out in 2010. including replacement wings. Also the engine was rebuilt in 2007. All this work. as well as other routine maintenance and repairs. was carried out by a local classic VW specialist. We have a full file of invoices etc. detailing the works done over the years.
The exterior is in good condition. as is the interior. The only bad bit of the interior is the lining underneath the rear window which is illustrated in the photographs; also the rear internal ventilator trims are missing. The car has been fitted with rear seatbelts and also has the benefit of a Sony CD player which can be removed if originality is a concern. The car also has the original Becker Avus FM radio. This radio worked when we first had the car but now it has no ariel so I have not tested it recently.
Whilst the speedo reading is 47. 00. the original service record that we have indicates that its actually done 147. 00!
