1948 Packard Von Rudolph Custom Roadster - Prototype - Fully Restored!!

Conceived and Started in 1948 as a Prototype!!!

Here is a beautiful one of a kind. 1948 Packard Von Rudolph custom roadster. The Packard Motor Car Company turned out the finest cars in the world. built to the highest standards of quality and engineering for over 50 years. This legendary Marque is the choice of Top collectors the world over. No Collection is complete without a Classic Era Packard. This rare Example would make a fine addition to any collection and will garner quite a bit of attention at any Meet. The 22nd Series Packard is the first true Post War Design. and the Convertible is the most rare and desirable. The first convertible produced by Packard since the war. the Custom 8 retained the bullet proof 356 cu in engine. arguably the finest Engine Packard ever produced. The Streamlined Body style exudes the flamboyance and style of its Era like few other cars can.

This period custom was conceived and started in 1948 as a prototype with hopes of convincing Packard Management to offer it as an option to high end buyers as they had previously done prior to the War. The project stalled and with the short lived run of the Bathtub design. the car sat unfinished for many years. The complete. 15 year every nut and bolt restoration was finished in 2007 and it is ready to hit the show circuit or will be a great cornerstone for any Packard Collection. The car features many unique design ques such as a speedster like windshield and heavily raked cowl reminisent of pre war cars such as Duesenberg and Chrysler Le Baron bodied cars. with the Gold Plated instrument panel deeply cut under the cowl. A rumble seat has been installed with forward tilting lid. which still provides a lot of trunk space. A true Roadster at heart there are no windows. Fully skirted front and rear fenders and custom moldings complete the flowing lines of this stunning creation. This one off custom is an interesting example of the Post War California Custom Car Movement

This car also has a disappearing top and front fender skirts for a very unique look. It sat for most of its life in a Packard Museum since being finished. The car runs and drives but would need some work to be a car you can take on the road and take on tours. It has been just sitting in a museum for the last five years. I'm not sure the whole history on this car but if it's a true prototype it could priceless!!
