Can you imagine what it must have been like fourteen years ago. sitting in the Mercedes Benz showroom on the sunny island of Guernsey. waiting to take delivery of your new. bespoke. Mercedes Benz SLK?
In those heady days. these attractive. steel roof convertibles were new and offered full convertible motoring at the single touch of a button. and yet the innovative system also gave the car a snug and secure closed coupe style with a folding metal roof - perhaps the first of its type and one that has now been widely copied.
The first owner clearly had substantial funds available as the bespoke specification included the rare but strikingly attractive. expensive and individual. Designo Purple paint finish which really sets this car apart from so many others. It's coupled with a full duo tone leather interior in black and mushroom with contrast stitching and creates a delightful. almost unique combination.
The fashionable and distinctly retro feel to the SLK dash is enhanced by the use of more contemporary Carbonite Dash Inserts and together with air conditioning and a Mercedes upgrade Radio/CD Hi Fi system. a further two thousand pounds or so will have been spent. bringing this car to more than thirty three thousand pounds!!
With only two previous recorded keepers and a comprehensive. predominantly Main and Specialist Dealer service history. this gorgeous convertible is ready for the spring ahead. With tax and MOT until the middle of summer. it really is ready to enjoy.

Many of these quality cars have now covered well in excess of 100K miles and so to find one with an average of around 4500 miles per year and with such few owners is a real benefit. Add in the bonus of the unusual colour and specification and you have yourself quite a special car for a very modest outlay.
All tyres are excellent as is the exhaust and at sometime I would expect the alloy wheels to have been refurbished as they are unmarked and like new.
With remote central locking. ABS. traction control and electric widows. this Mercedes Benz has all the niceties one might expect from a prestige car. and then of course there's that wonderful roof and stunning colour!
The automatic gearbox changes perfectly and with supercharged or 'Kompressor' enhanced performance from the 2. 3 litre engine. economy figures are more than respectable too. Having recently covered close to five hundred miles in it I can safely say I've been really impressed.
The interior carpets have been protected with hard wearing bespoke overmats and so consequently show no signs of wear but there are small areas of the light mushroom coloured interior that do show the car is now close to fifteen years old with slight wear evident. in particular to the more vulnerable top surfaces of the centre console. That said. this car comes complete with two sets of remote control keys. first aid kit. warning triangle. tool roll and all the original Mercedes Benz bookpack with stamped service history and radio code pass etc. and it is only around a tenth of the price it was when new yet it looks and drives like a 'million dollars'
