Seller's notes: "The stainless trim is excellent except for a few straightened pieces. The chromed die cast exterior parts show minor pimples, and the interior chromed dash pieces (a couple of pieces are missing) could use rechroming. The dash has been repainted but the gages are not the greatest looking. There are two 1” cuts in the vinyl upholstery.will need a gas tank sending unit and probably some love and tinkering to make it a reliable driver. The wiring insulation is crunchy in places, and there are a couple of minor oil drips. Belts & hoses are aged, and the engine has not been detailed. There is a 2" crack across corner of the left quarter window and a crack in the passenger vent window, neither of which should be a problem."

This 1955 DeSoto Hemi is a 50. 00 mile Calif. car. It was stripped of trim and professionally painted in approx. 2000. then placed in dry storage until 2012. I replaced the fuel. cleaned the plugs. oiled the cylinders. shot gas in the carb and it started. The lifters clattered. I changed the oil. and ran it for about 10 minutes. Next time it started. the lifters quieted after a few seconds. I honed and kitted the brake cylinders. the drums & shoes were rebuilt previously) replaced the  vacuum advance unit and cleaned the carburetor.

Both bumpers are re-chromed. and the stainless trim is excellent except for a few straightened pieces. The chromed die cast exterior parts show minor pimples. and the interior chromed dash pieces (a couple of pieces are missing) could use rechroming. The dash has been repainted but the gages are not the greatest looking. The interior carpet and upholstery is new and stock appearing with two small cuts in the vinyl. The headliner is original black vinyl in excellent condition. The trunk has been re-carpeted appearing as factory in as new condition. Dated gasoline purchase notebook pages with odometer readings found in the glove box verify the 50K as actual.

I've driven it less than 100 miles. After installing new radial tires it drives very well but will need a gas tank sending unit and probably some love and tinkering to make it a reliable driver. The wiring insulation is crunchy in places. and there are a couple of minor oil drips. Belts & hoses are aged. and the engine has not been detailed.

This was an estate car. belonging to an elderly lady in Southern California.   It has a clean Oregon title. A $500 deposit within 24 hours of winning bid (preferably via PayPal) will hold it. with the balance due within 7 days. Vehicle will be released when the final payment has cleared the bank. I'll store it indoors for a month or two if necessary to allow time for the buyer to arrange shipping.
