Seller's notes: This lotus is prime for restoration, but will not take much to get it on the road. It maintains it's original features, engine, which does require lead replacement additives, Dellorto twin cam, steering wheel and knock-off wheels. Overall the bodywork is good but there is some damage to the bodywork including scratches and chips. The roof lacquer has come away in some places. I have included examples in the photos.The mileage counter reads 24335 but I cannot confirm this. The vacuum that closes the headlights do not work, although there is nothing wrong with the mechanism. Some of the dashboard veneer has been damaged and the panels under the dash have come away. The starter motor just spins so at present the car will not start.The latch on he drivers door does not close so the door won't click shut. Not all instrumentation works. The fuel gauge does not register, but the lights, electric windows all work.There is a rip in the driver seat upholstery.

This gem of a later élan is the best car I have ever owned - a delight to drive and an incredible ability to corner. It turned heads on the road. It is an original.
I brought this car in sept 2002 and put into a specialist car centre to address a fuel leak. full engine repair and tune and replace the clutch. The car has done about 3. 00 mile since then. It was off the road for about 3 years in a garage. before I moved and put it back onto the Ro for another year (about 5 years ago). The car has been standing on the drive outside since then.
Currently the car doesn't start due to the starter motor just spinning. Replacing the starter motor should allow the engine to start. Also the drivers door latch does not catch stopping the door from closing properly.
The engine is the original engine from factory. it has not been converted to unleaded. so does need lead replacement additive. The cams are Dellorto twin cam.
There is likely to be a leak in the headlight vacuum system as the headlights remain up; however. the mechanism still works. I have not tried to resolve this myself. although it looks like a previous owner has had a go.
The rubber donuts on the drive have not been replaced. This is something that the buyer may want to consider. These can be changed to a universal metal joint. but this may take away some of the elan's spring when pulling away.
Whoever buys this car is buying a piece of british history. There were limited numbers built. and with them being over 40 years old fewer left!
