Due to some major life changes my 1968 Mk1 Escort is reluctantly for sale.
Fundamentally a complete car with lots of good parts so please take a few minutes to read and digest.
Originally from portugal this very early car has a current 2 owner 68 V5.
The shell is very. very original and still has factory wings so the gaps are superb.
Corrosion wise it has happened at the rear. The boot floor and the wells need doing and a couple of areas in the window corners. It comes with a mint replacement boot floor and chassis rails so there is plenty of meat on it to do an invisible repair. Please note that all of the chassis is  very good. It also comes with all four well repair panels.
Working forward. the floors are very solid and there are just a couple of tiny pin holes to sort. Generally the sills are all original and solid apart from an area forward of the near side. The inner has been done and I have a section for the outer - Again all very straight forward.
Forward again. looking up at the inside of the bulkhead is brilliant - Inner wings brilliant and I have the correct Type 49 wing top strengthening panels and the strut tower braces as well (all new).  MC Engineering will stamp on the VIN for you.
Front wings are generally excellent but there is one small area to be sorted on the very top of the n/s one.  Also included are a set of RS2000/Mexico arches to be fitted.
The rear arches are superb.
Doors are very good and have the opening quarter lights!
Trim is all lovely black vinyl and the seats are in superb condition and as period as it comes!
I also will be including a very rare Safety Devices cage with a removable diagonal so that the rear seats can be retained. Floor mounting plates for this are already correctly welded in.
Obviously and originally LHD it now sports a new 2. 4 RHD quick rack with an HD coupling UJ. The pedal box has been mounted on the r/h side along with the bulkhead stiffener and clutch cable guide. On the other side is a nice plain reworked blank stiffener. Obviously the dash will need sorting but I intended to fit a rally type twin pod assembly.
The boot and bonnet had also suffered but I have good replacements.
I will also include a later shock mounting beam should you decide to go that way.
English axle is fitted with Sport type struts with M16 calipers. 22mm roll bar and a new Anti-dive kit has been added.
It also comes with group 4 radiator cut outs - The top is in place but not the bottom.
The gear lever hole has been moved for the type 9 box.
It will come with 2 x 2. 0 Pinto's. One is in the car to get the mounts right for the box. It is a decent 205 with the head loose but has no cam. It has loosely assembled all the correct parts including a mint RS alloy sump. RS alloy engine mounts with the correct shrouds and of course the allow bell housing connected to a good Type 9 with a quick shift. New top and bottom gaskets sets are included and a new high pressure oil pump. Also included is a Capri 2. 0 Pinto which is absolutely complete with Weber etc and has another good Type 9 5 speed. This was running just a couple of weeks ago and was sweet apart from a bit of smoke which I guess was from the valve guide seals.
It also comes (phew) with a lovely Mk1 Capri fuel tank for bulkhead mounting if you choose to go that way. It is the correct smaller one that fits correctly. The rare 68 tank is also included along with rear bumper. lights (new bowls and halogens on the front). rare Theta lamp brackets and original quarter bumpers. Wipers have been converted also.

Every part removed has been carefully stored and boxed.
Nice 4 spoke 6x13 Ford alloys with new RS centre caps.
This is a wonderful base to create something quite special and an early car at that.
I am sure I have forgotten things!
On sale from the start price - No lower. Viewing most times welcome.
