For sale original and superb Lotus elan plus 2 S130. first registerd 1971. There's no reserve and I'll start the bidding at £1. so come grab yourself a classic british sports car. I'll be as genuine and honest as possible with the description. it may be a bit long as I don't want to leave anything out. but trust me when I say. she is a superb example that looks and drives great. And is original and complete. not even an ashtray missing. and she has 3 of them.

The price for these cars is on the rise. with the original Elan's selling for more than £50k. the plus 2 however is very undervalued and getting very rare. I read somewhere that at last count there were only around 800 left in the world. I recently saw a non running one of these go for over £9k and a good ones are fetching anywhere between £12000 and £15k. but I'm willing to start this one off at £1 with no reserve. so it goes for what goes for.

I bought this one in 2010/11. with the aim of restoring it. after stripping it down and restoring the engine. uspension. brakes etc. I moved to Ireland from the uk and then parked it in the garage where it sat for 2 years or so and apart from a regular firing up of the engine didn't do anymore to it until recently. when I got a bee in my bonnet and decided to put her all back together.

Here's a list of the things that have been restored: Suspension was stripped repaired and painted (see photo's). the brakes disks and pads renewed as were the brake lines. Chassis was completely rust proofed and undersealed it only had some very minor surface rust(it's the original chassis as far as I can tell). New anti roll bar fitted( old one had broken) with new nylon bushes. The engine stripped and completely rebuilt. The cylinder head was stripped/de-coked and the valves reseated. Twin webers were cleaned and re jetted. New rubber seals were put on the doors and the rear window was removed and resealed with new rubber seal.

There's no noticable osmosis/bubbling of the paintwork although she could do with a good t-cut.  the interior headlining is pure white. no staining. and she has the original colin chapman signed steering wheel. The seats are in great condition for the age very little wear and tear. as is the rest of the interior. The engine runs superb. plenty of power.  The gearbox and gearchange are slick no strange sounds etc nice easy gear change. it's the 4 speed box. clutch perfect. Brakes work perfectly. still new with only a few miles on them. There is a repaired tear in the drivers seat but doesn't notice. it's been done with the proper vinyl repair kit not the usual sticky tape bodge job. The  indicators. reverse and brake lights all work correctly.  There is a slight bit of cracking on the nose cone. The wheels and tires are in good condition. the tires all have excellent tread on them.

As far as I can tell the only unoriginal part/change has been at some time the addition of an electronic/optronic ignition (a sensible upgrade imho. certainly saves adjusting points). and an electronic cooling fan. other than that I'm pretty sure she is 100% original.

There are a couple of things that need to be done to get her to pristine condition.  The dash has delaminated a bit I've a spare new one for it with a perfect walnut finish you can have. included in the sale.  And a good t-cut for the paintwork.  The side and headlights will need rewiring although all the other electrics are working.

I don't know why the red paintwork looks slightly pinkish in the photos. I think it's a combination of my camera and the light here (was about the only day it hasn't been raining. I was waiting for a sunny day. but this is Ireland and that may not come for months) but it is the original deep red. if the sun actually comes out before the auction ends I'll take some more.  I've had to respray the boot lid. the dogs in the background decided one day before I put it in the garage to jump up on it and scratched the hell out of it. all done tho' and it's a pretty good match.

I have a folder of paperwork for it. Old mot's and even the advisories. quite a few bills for work carried out prior to me owning her mostly minor things for the mot's apart the rotoflexes being replaced circa 2006. and the UK log book.

I would strongly urge you to come and view/test drive the car if you can. I'm pretty sure you won't be dissapointed. like I said she's a superb example. It's located in Goresbridge. Co Kilkenny. Southern Ireland. about an hour from the Pembrook/Rosslare ferry. or about 1 hour from Dublin.  I'm here days and evenings apart the weekly shopping trip so no problem with arranging times. whatever suits you.

If I've missed anything. I'll edit the advert and add it in.  If you need any other info. either message me on here. I'll do my best to check daily or alternativly call me on 00353 83 1193118.  10 days was the longest time I could list it for. I know that doesn't leave a great deal of time to view the car. but if your serious she's worth it.

Good luck and happy bidding.
