There's a reason why '49 Mercs are so coveted -- they were one of the first redesigns after the war and you'll be hard pressed to find someone to say FoMoCo didn't get it right. But what really sets this car apart is its cross-generational appeal. The platform lends itself perfectly to customization that fits any taste -- a trend that started the minute these sleds rolled off the showroom floor. Young or old. everyone wants to own. ride in or take a picture with THE quintessential post-war custom.

As you approach this '49 Mercury you find that the stance is perfect. slightly lowered and wearing beautiful chrome wheel covers. It's been nosed and decked but otherwise the body retains a clean stock look. The paint shows well with few flaws and good gaps; however we would characterize it as an older restoration. Much of the trim is original but holding up well for a driver. Glass is in good condition with some newer and some older rubbers. A couple panes have been subtly andartfully etched. The wiper arms have been removed for that West Coast hot rod look; the fender skirts are included should you choose to install them.

The interior is clean and tidy with a tasteful tweed covering the seats and door panels. The dash remains mostly original and in good condition. Not all of the original gauges are functioning but more modern and accurate gauges have been fitted under the dash. A newer Alpine CD/AM/FM stereo with USB and aux input has been fitted and sounds great. It's a comfortable place to spend time and retains enough originality that you still know what you are driving and why.

When you pop the hood on this car you get a breath of fresh air. We have a rule at Motorcar Studio -- no Fords with Chevy motors allowed. Under the hood you find a gorgeous 255 Flathead punched . 30 over with three deuces. Edlebrock heads and Fenton headers. Even better. it's mated to a T-5 five speed manual. Although we don't have a rebuild history on this mill. based onthe way she looks and runs you know it's a pretty fresh build with all of the right parts. If you rodded this car in the 50's or 60's this is how you would have done it. And that is what makes this '49 stand out from the crowd of purple. chopped. shaved. 350-powered competitors -- it feels real. unmolested. classic and classy.

Recent service has included all fluid changes. choke and throttle cable replacement and brake service. It's ready to be enjoyed or shown by the next owner. Taxes and Registration fees: A dealer documentation. temp tag and vehicle prep fee will be applied to all sales. Appropriate sales tax will be collected from the residents of the state of GA. All taxes and fees must be paid in full in order for vehicle to be titled and registered.
 

Title Information: Vehicles titles may be held by banks or lenders as collateral for loans. In many cases there is a delay in receiving the original instruments up to 30 days from the time we pay a vehicle off. While we usually have all titles in our possession at closing. there are occasions where we may be waiting for them to arrive. If payment is made by cashiers check we will hold all titles for 20 days or until funds have cleared.

Finalizing your Purchase:

We will contact the successful high bidder by e-mail after the auction closes.

Successful high bidder MUST communicate with our Sales Staff by phone at 404-692-5250 within 24 hours of the auction ending to make arrangements to complete their transaction. If we cannot confirm your intention to buy the vehicle within 24 hours of the auction end or the sale is not completed within 24 hours. we reserve the right to relist this vehicle or sell to any other qualified buyer and have no further obligation to previous auction winner.
