SELLER REMARKS

There are no secrets with this 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T. and all the news is good: numbers-matching. a 4-speed transmission. original color combination. and a ton of documentation. If you haven't found out how good a small block E-body can be. this might be your golden opportunity.

With only 1078 340 Challenger R/Ts being built. this is a rather rare beast. For some guys. the thrill of a high-winding small block and the nimble handling that comes with it is the ultimate expression of the muscle car. Finished in correct code FC7 Plum Crazy Purple. just as the fender tag demands. this spectacular car is a very impressive piece of Mopar history. Given that it hits all the right high notes with collectors. they didn't spare any expense in the restoration and put it back together just the way the factory intended. Gaps are good. the finish has just the right shine. and the R/T stripes running down its flanks are faithful reproductions. There's also a Performance Hood. a Go-Wing out back. and a very nicely installed black vinyl top that matches the original's unusual grain. And yes. this is a real R/T. as documented by the original build sheet. so all the proper R/T badges were reinstalled. making this a very formidable-looking machine.

Black bucket seats and a console are just the way it was originally built and thanks to a full makeover. look pretty much as-new in every way. High-back seats are a Chrysler tradition and the cool console aims the pistol-grip shifter right at the driver. so there's no missing it. There's also a wood-rimmed wheel. a full set of Rally gauges. including a tick-tock-tach. and the original Music Master AM radio is still in the dash. Workmanship is exemplary. with no wrinkles or sags in the upholstery and few signs of use since the restoration. and unlike a lot of cars of the era. no liberties have been taken with the original equipment. which means no aftermarket tachs crudely screwed to the dash or hacked up radio installations. Even the trunk is nicely detailed with a proper mat and a full-sized spare with jack assembly tucked into its slot in the quarter panel.

The numbers-matching 340 cubic inch V8 delivers enough punch to make you grin like an escaped convict. and without the weight of a big block up front. this car will run circles around many more horsepower-heavy competitors. Beautifully finished and correctly detailed. the bright Hemi Orange engine sizzles in the purple engine bay. and is complete from the wrinkle-finish air cleaner to the cast iron exhaust manifolds. Little stuff like the hoses and clamps. alternator. and even the firewall resistor. are all exact reproductions that suit a car of this caliber. The 4-speed manual is original to the car. and a quick check of the build sheet reveals that this one packs 3. 91 gears out back. all the better to get the hot small block into the fat part of its power curve. There's a reproduction exhaust system underneath and proper Rallye wheels at all four corners. which carry 235/60/15 front and fat 275/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials.

Fully documented with the original Chrysler Corporation Broadcast Sheet. dealer invoice. owner's manual. and Galen Govier authentication. this is an investment-grade Challenger that's a winner on the show field or on the street. Call today!
