The Austin Healey 3000 hit the market in 1959 and would become the third and final iteration of the “big healeys”.  Healey 3000′s are regarded among the most quintessential British sports cars–a perfect blend of nimbleness and torque.

The Mk1 3000 was perhaps the sportiest of all of the 3000s. Built between 1959 and 1961. it was light weight and lacked the frills and creature comforts that make the later cars more refined. but less sporty.  The vast majority of Healey 3000′s were made in a 2+2 configuration. which included two extra jump seats in the back. but the Mk1 BN7 offered a two-seater – giving it the silhouette and character of a true. uncompromised sports car. Just over 2. 00 3000 Mk1 BN7′s were ever made and they boasted substantial  power. topping out at 115 miles-per-hour in period. In addition. these cars shipped with electronic overdrive units. making them one of the few early British classics that are well suited even today for highway driving as well as back roads.

The heritage certificate offered with this car confirms its original colors – Healey blue with ivory coves – and its matching numbers. Both the interior and the convertible top are also blue and in solid condition. This car came with several special options: wire wheels. an adjustable steering column. heater. windscreen washers. overdrive. road speed tyres. and a laminated windscreen.

Throughout its life this has been maintained by world renowned Healey restoration specialist Steve Pike for the previous owner who is a close friend of his. As a result. this car is in spectacular driving condition. The cosmetics of the car are. as evidenced by the photos. in tremendous condition for a driver. While not a show car. this Healey is a real looker. The original color scheme is striking and the paint. while not without minor imperfections. is beyond presentable. The engine compartment and underside are both very original and unrestored. but incredibly solid. All in all. this is a car you will be proud to be seen in and to look at. If you were so inclined. you could detail the engine compartment and underside. and you would be well on the way to a show caliber car.
