A magnificent & important car in absolutely first rate condition. The car comes to us with over £80. 00 in recent bills for works done to it by Marque Specialists Frank Dale & Stepsons. It is thus in superb mechanical order with a fully rebuilt engine & everything done to it that needed doing. The accompanying invoices are comprehensive. meticulous & detailed.

Coachwork is by Barker; body number 6965. It is in the form of a very sporting swept back design appearing almost aero like from the side view. Being a long chassis the car has ample room to the rear & front along with a wind up division. Whilst not a Continental Model. he car was specified on the Rolls Royce build sheets to have a number of continental features including continental type rear springs etc.

The car after being owned by Rolls Royce itself for two years then belonged to Mr Miles of Miles aircraft fame. Rolls Royce purchased the Miles Aircraft company before the war & the car was included as part of the deal. With the car comes a picture of it sitting outside the Art Decco style Woodley aerodrome terminal behind a miles Monarch aircraft with a uniformed chauffeur at hand.

The car is finished in a pleasing scheme of pale grey over medium grey. Twin trumpet horns adorn the front. mounted either side of a central fog lamp. A single side mount sits on the drivers side running board.

The interior is a tactile delight. Pale blue leather to all the seating surfaces; satin finish burr walnut in abundance; pale grey carpets to match. Small tools are located in a fold out panel to the passenger front foot-well. A large sunroof slides easily back allowing for semi alfresco motoring. The front windows are of an interesting. practical & unusual design. When the winder is turned in one direction the window moves backwards a couple of inches allowing for quarter-light style ventilation; when turned the other the window rolls down in a conventional manner.

On the road the car is everything a phantom should be. The engine starts instantly & runs in well oiled silence. The gear box is smooth & precise. The car is fitted with an overdrive giving a surprising turn of speed with 70 - 80MPH all day cruising attainable. much to the bemusement of modern motorists viewing a pair of enormous headlamps closing upon them from the rear. The engine bay is well detailed with all large tools in their appointed places including a plug in inspection lamp. Being a late model car the gear box boasts synchromesh on second. third & 4th gears.

The epitome of '30's style. rarely do we list cars in such fine condition. The car has recently had a full inspection By Rolls Royce engineer William Allan who pronounced the car fit mechanically & an outstanding example. The current South African owner has kept the car stored with us & uses it once or twice a year on trips to Europe. Last year he did a 1500 mile loop through France in it over a 10 day period with the car performing flawlessly.
