1993 MERCEDES 500E Genuine car, LHD, Blue-black, outstanding condition, low mile

My car for the last 15 years. the extremely rare and collectable 500E. Always in left hand drive. assembled by Porsche in the days before AMG. This car was imported by a Brighton classic car dealer. who imported several of these. nbsp;in mid 1998 and I bought it from him in January 1999. The car is an extremely honest and straight car and as far as I am aware has never had any accident damage. Certainly I have had no paintwork done on the car during my ownership.

The car has been properly maintained to a high standard only using genuine MB parts. I doubt that can be said for many 21 year old MB's. Not much has needed replacing during my ownership. only distributor caps and leads. radiator and aircon radiator. The wheels are completely original and have never been refurbished. The car has always lived inside under cover during my ownership some of the time in a dehumidified environment and currently inside a plastic "tent" with fans.

There is no corrosion to body panels and the underneath is surprisingly clean. Every year when it goes for MOT I have the pipes and vulnerable areas covered in spray grease just to keep it right. The only damage on the car is from stone chips. a couple of which have started to bubble on the windscreen pillars and there is a small split in the skirt below the bumper. I have had a quote from the local MB bodyshop to plastic weld this split and spray in the chipped areas for just over £1k but I am certain this could be done less expensively elsewhere. The reason I haven't done it is that I don't use the car now and if I did it I would want it done properly by the MB bodyshop.  The only other two things which will need attention are that the outside temperature guage has recently ceased working. although I bought a new sensor so this can go with the car. Also. the ASR (traction control) light shows after a few miles driving at which point there is no traction control but the car drives normally in all other respects.  

Tyres are all good Avons and the car drives straight and precise with no wandering or wallowing at all. Mileage when I bought the car was 70k miles. shown as 110k kilometers and now reads 183k kilometers hence 113k miles. I have a huge paperwork file with the car and all receipts since I bought it.   Pretty much all available options on the car except sunroof - includes electric rear blind. electric and heated seats. fire extr etc etc.

I always said I would never sell this car but I simply don't use it now and. like the car. I am getting older so needs must. Currently not for sale anywhere else. Sale by auction only - I am not interested in off e bay offers so please don't waste your time. This is a rare chance to buy a genuine 500E. only for the serious collector. These cars are now starting appreciate meaningfully and one recently sold at auction. albeit with slightly lower mileage still. at £22k and I saw another advertised recently at a similar price. My starting price and reserve reflect the fact that a buyer/investor will want to spend a little to maximise the attraction of this beautiful car.    The car is in TR14 Cornwall. help can be given with collection. The car is insured and can be taxed for driving away at buyer's cost. Whilst viewing before the end of the auction is possible I have little spare time so please please only bid if you are completely serious.
