I am selling this very nice 1970 MK2 Triumph Vitesse convertible for a friend who purchased it last year when it was in need of some restoration. He was a mechanic for 40+ years before retiring from work (over 10 years ago) but continuing to work on and restore classic vehicles. V5 in his name.
This car is very good underneath. and can be viewed on my ramp. the underside is painted with zinc paint so nothing hidden and in excellent and solid condition.
The engine starts easily. drives well and has a fully working overdrive. The reports on the car at the time said "the engine was tweaked once more to provide 104 bhp (78 kW). cutting the 0–60 mph time to just over 11 seconds and providing a top speed over 100 mph". That was 44 years ago but I've cruised along easily at 65. accelerated with modern traffic and kept the smile on my face.
The mileage is just under 59K and going by the last 4 MOTs it's probable this is correct. but no other documentation to prove.

It has recently been painted in 2K red. been fitted with a brand new hood and a set of moulded carpets (not the normal 'flat' carpet set). The wood is good. if you were picky you could rub it down and re-varnish at your leisure but it's perfectly acceptable as is. and black vinyl interior is without any rips etc.
It is taxed (free) till May 2014 and MOT'd till May 22nd but happy to put a full years ticket on it for the winning bidder once deposit is paid and collection date agreed.
It comes with a few spares and a tonneau cover.
£200 deposit by PayPal at end of auction and the remainder on collection to transferred before collection. The car is advertised elsewhere so may be removed at any time up to the auction end.
The car is in Gullane (EH31) and you are very welcome to come to view and test drive (with valid insurance) or to come out as a passenger.
