This listing is for a newly imported 1953 Kaiser DeLuxe sedan. from the Kaiser-Frazer group. First I have to say that if you are looking for an original and rare '50s American car you will do worse than buy this one. it is so authentic and has that "patina" everybody talks about. Just look at those windscreens with the "eyebrow" shaped tops. all you need is a pair of cartoon eyes and you could use this in the "Cars" movie.

It has it's original 226 cu in straight 6 Kaiser "Supersonic" flathead engine. and GM sourced Hydramatic auto transmission. It is still on 6 volts and has a new fuel pump. new dizzy cap and leads. new plugs. new coil. new regulator box and new battery. It starts easy and runs and drives well with nice smooth gear changes.

I haven't had the hubs off. but the brakes all work well. pull it up straight and the handbrake works good too. It steers easily with no play.

Bodywork is totally original and as straight as a die. with one small dent to lower rear of left side rear door and a tiny ding on the hood. There is no welding needed anywhere and this car has never had any welding done in the past. All doors open and close nice and tight without any slamming as does boot and trunk lids. The chrome work is poor. with pitting on most pieces. though the stainless side trims are very nice.

The lights all work. left front indicator lense is damaged. main beam switch works. indicators work. horn works (from a button below the column) and courtesy light inside the car and inside the trunk work good too. The gauges seem to work as well. don't now how accurate though. The heater motor works as well. as does the cigarette lighter. All door windows wind up and down as they should. all interior handles present and in good condition. All glass is good. none of the usual cracked side glasses.

Seats and interior trim are all original and now showing their age. but if you can live with the patina. there's nothing to stop you using the car with the worn seats. etc. It is a very comfortable car to sit in.

Tyres are all excellent and all hubcaps present and in excellent condition. The spare tyre is in it's place in the trunk floor below the steel cover. and the original bumper jack is there. complete and working too.

So. what needs done? Nothing that will stop you using it right away. but obviously if restoring it it needs paint. chrome and interior trim. but that lot aside all we are looking at is: left front indicator lense. wipers are poor as they are vaccuum. wiper blades shot. headlights should be changed to UK left dipping ones. and the carb hesitates a bit on intitial revving or pulling away so may need a clean out? If you feather the throttle till it's past it's hesitant bit. it then takes off and drives very well.

It's an old car. it's just landed here. it's only been driven round the docks. no guarantees at all. sold as seen.

I will get the car UK registered and taxed soon and will use it till it sells.

Although we are based in Central Scotland. please do not let this be an issue for you as I pride myself on my descriptions and must add that on my other accounts and via magazines. I have never ever failed to sell a car to the first person who travels to see it! If you know what you are looking for. and do decide to come and see. I can assure you the car will be as described here. There is no point in me telling lies about a car. as. quite simply. when you come and see it. you will not buy it if it's not as described. so. a big waste of time for me and a waste of time and money for you. I have no wish to deceive any potential buyer. I've been on the receiving end of that in the past. travelling many hundreds of miles to see something very much different from what was described to me. I aim to change that as a business seller. I'd rather gain a new friend and not sell you a car than sell you something and make a new enemy!! I am an enthusiast first and business man second.

If you want to come and look. I can pick you up at Edinburgh Airport. or Linlithgow or Falkirk rail stations and return you after your visit. I can arrange delivery for you at your cost. London area is about £360 incl VAT as an example.

Sorry to do this folks. but I must add a note here for people who may not think some things through properly. I cannot and will not take a swap on anything. To explain. you want to swap me something. therefore yours is available for sale here in the UK. Why would I go to the bother of buying a vehicle unseen in the USA. take the chance that the seller may rip me off. spend money shipping it. unload the container. pay all the duties. VAT. etc. then simply swap it for something I could have bought here without going to all that bother. not to mention my money being tied up for at least three months awaiting the arrival. This is a business. you go to work to earn your wages so you can eat. etc. I sell imports to do the same. Swaps do not put food on the table. I hope all reading understand where I'm coming from with this. I keep my prices tight so can't pay over the odds for a trade in either. remember I'm the dealer. I can't drop my price to break even then pay you retail for a trade in. no vehicle sales business will ever do that. it's financial suicide. If you want to give me a trade in. I will talk to you. BUT. my price is firm in that case and your trade must be of a cost that I can make something on it too. I also wont take a trade of something I can't sell. 'cause if you've been trying to sell it and can't. then I can't either. simple really. I prefer to deal on a straight sale basis. I write this as I am getting fed up with many e-mail and phone conversations. followed by sending lots of pics. etc to interested parties. only to find that after a few days of time wasting. all they really want to do is swap me for something of lower value or something they have had no luck trying to sell. Don't get me wrong. if after a few days of talks and pics. you decide my vehicle isn't for you. that's no problem. that's not time wasting (as long as you didn't tell me it was definitely for you then change your mind!). Many thanks for reading and understanding.
