1966 Dodge Charger

By the mid 1960s the Detroit auto manufactures were on a super fast track with new formulas for automotive design.   Smaller cars and bigger engines were the two components that had a common denominator for just about every hot design that came out of GM – Chrysler – Ford Motor Company.   Ford of course set the market on fire with the 1964 ½ Mustang and also along with General Motors Pontiac's GTO. Chrysler/Dodge had to jump in and in 1965 they came out with a show car called the Charger II and was such a success that they quickly followed up with the basic design of this car and incorporated it into the 1966 Dodge Charger.   Chrysler/Dodge had every one of its major designers for exterior design. interior design and color design meeting on a daily basis to come up with the final results of the 1966 Dodge Charger.   This was the beginning of Dodge becoming a very prominent division for Chrysler.   Interesting to note that in 1966. David Pearson drove a Charger to win the NASCAR Grand National Championship.

The car that you see before in this ad shows the harmony that was brought together from this coordinated effort of exterior design. interior design and color.   The particular color of this car in this ad is undoubtedly the favorite for the Charger with the almost perfectly matching color for the interior.   The 383 cubic inch engine with the upgraded four barrel and the 3-speed automatic transmission for that moment in time was somewhat of a barnstormer.

We at MissChiTown feel that the interior design is one of the finest interior designs ever and certainly the finest design ever put into a Dodge.   Take a look at the highly detailed four bucket seats. dashboard. center console (front & back) and we can't come up with anything that we like better.   We also again make special note of the fantastic color of this car both interior and exterior wise.

The car has undergone a full restoration and there is only of a few little details to bring it to perfection. One of those being the hidden headlights flip either to a hidden position or a lighted road position.   Currently they are in the lighted road position due to the fact that the original celanoid discontinued working and a new set of celanoids is included with the purchase.

Take a look and see how straight this car is and how well detailed the engine compartment is and you should be in awe.   This car is coming from a collector who is in later 70s and is still active but is paring down and making an opportunity for a new caretaker to add a wonderful Dodge Charger to his collection.
