1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28                                         Doesn't every red blooded American man or woman want a bright shiny red 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 with black racing stripes? 1973 was the last year of the cool 2nd generation Camaro.  A very highly sought after Z-28 like this one surely doesn't come around too often.   I will point out everything I know about this classic Chevy. This Camaro was assembled in Norwood. Ohio then purchased brand new at Garrard Chevrolet. Inc.  in New Orleans. Louisiana. It moved to Texas until 1998 when it came to sunny Southern Florida. The beautiful original color is code 74-74 Dark Red Metallic paint as verified through the data plate.  I was told by the previous owner that the mileage is true and correct on the numbers matching powerful Turbo-Fire 350 V8 engine. with the original turbo 350 hydromatic transmission. I believe the prior owners statement to be truthful. because I checked the numbers on the block myself. They do match the vehicle identification number with 100% certainty for all of you that must have a numbers matching car out there. I never cared much about numbers as long as the car ran great. but I know having a numbers matching car makes the car much more valuable.  This rare red sports car starts right up. and rides like an original 36. 00 mile car should. With that being said. this rare low mileage Z-28 has spent much of its life in storage. so it will need some attention. such as the brakes. They do stop the car. but one or both of the calipers in the front may need to be replaced. The suspension is tight. and this Z grips and handles the road wonderfully. but I did notice a minor power steering leak. Naturally to make this car really spectacular the new owner may want to give it a quick and easy restoration. This Chevy was repainted and as you can see by the pictures the clearcoat has some peeling. To make this Z super nice again it will need some fresh paint work. although it is still a cool car to drive around just as it is. I'm selling this car as a daily driver. not a show car. I did not see any evidence of this car ever being involved in an accident. and in my opinion I would say that all of the panels are original to this car. That is something that you won't find in many 41 year old cars nowadays. The trunk lid is the only panel that I would suggest possibly finding a nicer one. All of the original chrome still appears straight and in relatively nice condition. It is very hard to find a complete muscle car like this with so much originality in this condition. This Z car came ordered from the dealer with the following options. The factory Z-28 sport steering wheel. dual sport mirrors painted to match the body color. soft-ray tinted glass. special instrumentation. power front disc brakes. power steering. 4-season air conditioning. positive traction rear-end. factory dual exhaust. dual black sport stripes. and the best of all. the special performance package. The factory air conditioning is still complete after all these years. and has already been switched over to the 134 system. It works fine. but could use a small charge to make it blow really icy cold. The dual exhaust is in very nice condition. and gives this Z a humble rumble. This Z-28 was ordered from the dealer with black bucket seats. console. and the factory gauge package with the original 130 m. p. h. speedometer. There is one small imperfection on the metal portion of the dash that could use some attention. although the dash pad itself is in perfect condition with no signs of cracking. There is an aftermarket AM/FM stereo CD player mounted in place of where the original AM/FM radio once was. The headliner is un-torn. and still intact. but some of the seams will need to be re-stitched.  The entire interior still appears in very nice original condition as shown in the pictures. Including the factory original carpeting that also leads me to believe the low mileage to be true on this red classic. The original floor pans are clean. and the rear inner and outer wheel houses look really nice.  The frame and undercarriage are all in very good condition.  More proof of low mileage! I believe anyone who sees the condition of this body and frame would agree that it is primarily due to the fact that this car has low mileage and was always a southern car. The front and rear spoilers really give this Camaro that Special looking Z-28 presence. You don't see many original Red Real Z-28's on the road anymore! This Z rides on a very nice set of four B. F. Goodrich Radial T/A P235/60R15 inch steel belted raised white lettered radial tires mounted on the factory correct Z wheels with all four center caps. and all four beauty trim rings. The trunk pan does need some minor work to be mint. but it still carries a full size Z wheel spare tire. This way in case there is a mishap on the road. with a quick tire change you can be back on the road looking complete in minutes. This car is being sold with an open. clean. and clear Florida title. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 with the 350 engine. and air conditioning valued at $42. 00 in high condition. which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored. or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those prices can reach much higher prices. $25. 25 in average condition. which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint. trim. and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-footer! They have the lowest condition value at $12. 25 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration. but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car. If anyone is really interested in what these 1973 Z-28's are selling for at carsonline. simply click over and see on that website. You will be hard pressed to find any original 1973 Z-28 close in price to whatever this one sells for in this auction. The overwhelming majority of the 1973 Z-28's are mostly all price ranged from $35. 00-$60. 00. This could be your next car if you can envision yourself in the drivers seat! This Classic Chevy comes documented with the original 1973 Chevrolet factory owner's manual. consumer information pamphlet. the Chevrolet passenger car maintenance schedule. emission control systems information and warranty manual. and a copy of the original window sticker from the dealer when this car was ordered brand new.  That verifies this car was ordered from the factory as an original Z-28. not some cheap clone. tribute. replica. re-creation. or whatever the word of the week is for a fake.  A lot of people try to imitate these true cars by adding all the cool Z-28 options to an ordinary Camaro. These true Z-28's have shown to consistently escalate in value with each quarter. Whether you had one as a youth and would like to recapture that glory or you just want to drive around your bank account. this may be the Z car you've been dreaming about. Everywhere you drive these cars people are attracted to them like a magnet. You must be prepared to be the spectacle of the neighborhood. These cars are becoming harder and harder to find. especially with this kind of low mileage.  This is a prime opportunity to own a piece of muscle car history at a reasonable price.  I personally believe that the red and black striped color combination is the most attractive and valuable on any muscle car. especially matched up with the very desirable black bucket seat interior. What you see is exactly what you get! I tried to list all of the pertinent information. so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. If you feel there is anything I may have missed. please ask any question you like.  I pride myself in answering every question in explicit detail with the utmost honesty.  Feel free to call Ian at 773/551-5075 to ask any questions or to arrange an inspection prior to the end of the auction.
