1947 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60S

Up for bid is a 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special.

Frame-off “Nuts & Bolt” restoration was started in 2009 and is almost complete.  the interior needs to be finished. some  paint work and a few minor bits sorted out to be ready for showing.

This Cadillac was sold new on January 25. 1947 by Coulter Motor Company. Phoenix Arizona to a local Doctor.   As far as we can tell. it has been in Arizona since new. It has a clear Arizona title.

Sometime in the 1960s. the engine was disassembled and remained that way until 2009. The car spent most of the past 40 years stored indoors/outdoors (Arizona) we had the original engine replaced with a rebuilt 1947 Cadillac flathead engine.

The body is super solid with no rust holes found anywhere when stripped down to bare metal.  

Lack of resources to complete this project is forcing us to let it go. our reserve is much less than we have invested.

Every nut and bolt has been removed cleaned and/or replaced. the transmission has been completely rebuilt and shifts like new.

Front and rear suspension/steering/rear end/brakes/shocks have been rebuilt/resealed or restored

All wiring has been replaced using correct cloth covered wire.

There are a few issues with paint and body panel fit since we had to rush to get it ready to list (check photos).

A little paint touch up/compounding and some TLC should do the trick. touch up paint will be included with the car.

The front grill. F&R bumpers. front fender spears. front doors spears. taillights and backup lamp have all been re-chromed.   The rear fender and door chrome spears are original and need to be re-chromed.

Last week someone backed into the grill and caused damaged to two center bars (see photo).

Items missing are the two small trim pieces located under the rear doors (see photo) original battery box and will need all door gasket rubber. other than that the car is 100% complete.

The front seat and all 4 door panels have been redone. all fabric. wind lace. cloth piping and carpet needed to redo the interior is included along with a pre-sewn headliner and original headliner bows.

What's left to do:

Trouble shoot turn signal flasher

Horn contact at steering wheel

Engine/drive train has a slight knock/vibration when cold and around 45 MPH (comes and goes). Not an engine bearing or valve lifter issue (fuel pump/U joint?).

Rebuilt speedometer stopped working after about 40 miles of driving.

Some rattling from under car when going over rough pavement

Vacuum line to wiper motor and power antenna needs to be connected/hard line installed.

Complete fabrication/installation of interior (material included).

Install door rubber gaskets (material not included).

This past week the hood was installed and the car road tested up to 70MPH it drives great. brakes are super good and transmission will shift into passing gear when “floored”.

DELIVERY NOT INCLUDED. Buyer is responsible for making the necessary arrangements for shipment of the vehicle. as well as all delivery charges. There will be help available for loading onto car hauler.
