Series 2 E Type LHD Roadster
1969 LHD convertible in British racing green. Original colour was old english white with black interior. Matching engine number chassis # 1R10405 was personally imported last year as a project for myself. my situation has changed and I've decided to sell the car. The car hasn't been registered but all the tax paid paperwork is available to register as soon as an MOT is present. The car was imported from Virginia and comes with a 1" thick file of receipts for $1000's for parts and maintenance dating back many years. and an owners manual.
ConditionThe car is running and driving but needs more work for an MOT. There are receipts for a full engine rebuild some years ago and the engine sounds great running through a new stainless exhaust system. There are no oil or water leaks and the fans work. The original twin carburettors have been rebuilt as has the ignition system and the alternator & battery are new. The brake master cylinder and servo are reconditioned units all working. the vacuum. low pressure fluid pipes and reservoirs are new but the handbrake needs adjusting. Other MOT work than I can see and had planned to do are new steering rack mounts and front ball joint gaitors. The chrome wires are as new and fitted with nearly new and expensive & correct Avon turbosteel 185x15 tyres.
The car has a brand new aluminium fuel tank (copy of the original but in aluminium) and new fuel pump (needs bolting in). The seats have been retrimmed at some stage in black vinyl. perforated as original. The hood works but has a small hole each side at the top frame pivot. The seatbelts are original and functional. The dash. dash top. door cards and console are complete and in good condition but the whole needs cleaning. The original carpets are missing. The lights. brake lights. indicators ect all work. The wiper motor works but is slow. The fan motor is not fitted but comes with the car and works. Also removed but included - both engine bay undertrays. RHF wheelarch closing panel and bonnet air intake to fan motor. As far as i can see the car is complete.
The car has been repainted from its original colour probably some time ago. the only white parts left are the underbonnet dash panels. the frames have been painted black. The bonnet is totally rot free although the underpan has some denting. The doors. bootlid and boot floor are rot free. The footwells and lower dash area both sides are solid. the only area of concern for me on the body appears to be in the floor under the seats where a repair is evident and has been done with a patch as opposed to a correct panel. but its very solid. On the outside the overall effect is great and is 1 colour but there is a dent in the RHR sill and in the valance above the LHR bumper and a number of smaller marks that have been touched up - so its not perfect. don't expect that. The bumpers will need rechroming ultimately.
The car comes with a brand new set of black carpets and a brand new black mohair hood lined in tan.
As the car has no MOT its not possible to know how the car drives at speed. and of course I can't guarantee what other MOT work is required. but this is a great opportunity to be on the road this spring in a driver condition E type convertible with a small amount of work and minimal cost. or for the perfectionist the original colour scheme of the car is more appealing (to me anyway) and this could be a candidate for a comprehensive restoration. The car could be driven away . but not legally of course! Also the car is listed elsewhere and may be removed at any time. Paypal for £500 deposit to secure only.
