EXTERIOR

Finished in beautiful Old English White this original 1957 Bentley exhibits true elegance and presence.   Whilst the paintwork has a bright uniform finish. it is evident that remedial paintwork rectification has been carried out over the years.   Structurally sound and complimented by vast expanses of chrome in excellent order. the car boasts a magnificent imposing demeanour displaying skilled craftsmanship from a bygone era.   Minor surface corrosion is visible upon inspection in certain areas. namely around the nearside front

wing-mounted side lamp. to the rear of both front wings and to the lower section of the rear nearside wing.   These aforementioned areas retain solid integrity and are non structural. therefore pose only as cosmetic imperfections.   All chrome work and detailing is present and correct. remaining as intended by Bentley master coachbuilders.   A Webasto sunroof has been professionally fitted and compliments the car handsomely.   A highly useable example of classic Bentley majesty and grandeur.

INTERIOR

A splendid and luxurious interior greets both driver and passengers and offers an unrivalled level of perfection.   English hide red leather seats (code YM3195) with front armchairs are in good condition but have suffered minor age related creasing and cracking.   The drivers seat has a stitched repair that is beginning to come undone.   Complimented by wooden garnishings and piled carpeting. the interior of this Bentley is beautifully preserved and retains original luxury features such as twin picnic tables and personal mirrors.   The carpet in the drivers footwell is worn.   The velvet headlining shows evidence of uniform discolouration.   The driver is afforded a refined and highly equipped cockpit with fully operational gauges. switches and rotary dials.   All equipment is fully functional including the original Radiomobile Model 200 XB receiver.   The epitome of Bentley prestige and indulgence.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

A glorious six cylinder in line engine with overhead inlet and twin SU carburettors of diaphragm type.   This well maintained unit starts immediately on the automatic choke and offers beautifully quiet and smooth performance at all speeds. achieving a maximum speed of 104mph.   The automatic transmission offers four forward speeds with over-riding hand and kick down speed control.   The gear changes feel assured as they should and allow excellent refined progression up and down the range.   A combination born from Bentleys quest for perfection.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The steel 15inch wheels have Bentley embossed chrome hub-caps which are standard fitment and finish the prominent exterior impact of the vehicle.   The 225/75 R15 tyres have ample tread.   The original spare wheel with unused tyre is correctly located in the lower boot section alongside the factory supplied jack.   Servo-assisted hydraulically operated brakes offer sufficient stopping power.   Umbrella handbrake system holds the car.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied by Bentley dealers Rippon Bros Ltd of Huddersfield and delivered new on 30 October 1957 to original owner John Crossley & Sons Ltd of Halifax.   A Bentley supplied record confirms the original purchase price of £3. 95 plus purchase tax of £1. 03.   This beautiful car remained with its first owner until being sold to a Mr Mclean on 18 November 1963.   The current owner Mr Dobsdale has been custodian since September 2002 and has bestowed upon the car a fastidious schedule of maintenance and restoration in the hands of local Rolls Royce and Bentley specialists Colbrook of Stilton. Peterborough.   An extensive collaboration of receipts and invoices from Bentley specialists accompany the history file alongside some previous MOT certificates.   A marvellous example of British motoring ingenuity and workmanship.
