1957 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special

The Fleetwood was the top of the line for Cadillac.   With the 300 horse power and 10:1 Compression.   These large Cadillac could really get up and go.   This was the first year that Cadillac used a tubular x-frame without outside rail.   Producing greater structural rigidity and allowed the bodylines to be lower then in previous years. The car of course is equipped with power windows. power brakes. power steering and six way power seat and power antenna.

Most of the Cadillac collectors would agree that 1957 is one of the finest years for Cadillac's design and the 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood four door hardtop is about the best looking post-war luxury tour car that you could ever find.   The car that you see before you is in very good driver condition and is priced with a very reasonable reserve.  

The elderly owner has been a Cadillac man all his life.   He knows his Cadillacs and he says this is a good solid car and never had any rust issues and never had any floor repair.   In his words it is an excellent running car with a good quiet exhaust system.   Good bias tires.   Absolutely beautiful chrome.   Even the power antenna works.

Now a word about Fleetwood. Fleetwood was a custom body builder for classic cars in the 1920s and 1930s and was acquired by General Motors for Cadillac.   The name Fleetwood always meant the best in design and quality craftsmanship both before Fleetwood was acquired by Cadillac and afterwards.   The 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood 4-door sedan was Cadillac's last word in luxury in 1957 and the quality was impeccable.   Remember in 1957 Cadillac was not only competing Ford Motor Company's Lincoln or Chrysler's Imperials but also with Rolls Royce and Mercedes Benz.   It has been mentioned in many history books the 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood was trying to out do the European competition as well as the American competition and the 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood with its long wheel base. beautiful design and at that time tasteful chrome trim is a statement that has never been quite made again.  

1957 was a very popular year in the American automotive history and there was even a museum for several years in the USA called 57 Heaven that had nothing but American cars from the year 1957.   We at MissChiTown love every bit of the design of the 1957 Fleetwood and know that it is not only popular in the U. S. but in many of the European countries.   Remember in 1957 only the fabulously rich could afford the Fleetwood and now you can own this rich piece of GM history!
