1958 Austin A35 4 door saloon for sale
Current customer rating:
Welcome to the reluctant sale of my 1958 Austin A 35 ‘Nobby'. It has covered just 34. 00 miles from new. about 4000 of those in my ownership. When I bought it in 2010 it had been stored in a garage since 1979. I recommissioned it sympathetically. keeping as much of the original paint as possible. As you can see from the photos it is in very good condition. but not concours as it has never been restored. The interior. too. is in delightful original condition. and has a lovely ‘old car smell'. It retains the original seats. doorcards. headlining. carpets and even the original rubber mats in the front. although these have some damage along the top edge. I have fitted a front carpet to protect them. With the exception of the very bottom of one of the front wings. the car has never been welded. runs very quietly. and drives very well as you'd expect for the mileage. Has always been garaged in mine and previous ownerships. and it shows. This really is one of the soundest and most original A 35's I have ever seen. Still has the original tool kit in the boot.
‘Nobby' won an award for ‘Most Original Car' at the Austin A 30/35 Owners Club National Rally in 2012 and was featured in the club magazine the same year. It is a well known car in the club and the local Essex show scene.
In my opinion this Austin should be kept in original condition by the new owner. as it would be a shame to restore it after all these years. But that would be up to the new owner. It had a new front wing in the 1970's after it was crunched by the elderly owner. who kept it for 20 years. never took it out in the rain and only used it a couple of times a week (yes that old story!). As you can see it is a very nice example and one that will only appreciate in value.
Being a 1958 model the car is both tax and Mo T exempt but for peace of mind I have continued to have it tested. As a result it has a current Mo T certificate until August 2014. which it passed with flying colours and has recently been serviced as well. It is a local car. having been supplied new by Frost Bros Motors of Hornchurch and has remained in the South Essex area all its life.
Very reluctant sale due to the purchase of yet another vintage Austin. and I can't keep both.
Uk bidders only please. and cash on collection only. Collection and payment required within 10 days of auction end. Good luck!

Comments and questions to the seller:
from christopher norman, dated 07 august 2022Hi, love the car but all I can afford max is £2K and a promise that I will look after the car and keep it as garaged, no up-dates to it either. I am 64 this year so money remains tight, so if you get no interest and can do this deal, then let me know what do you think?Regards
from Dave Barnes, dated 09 december 2021
