Earlier this year I purchased this Super Low Mileage 1966 Cyclone GT Convertible from a local man who had inherited it from his estranged father's estate.   He told me his father bought the car new from a local dealership and used it occasionally until he had marital problems and then placed it in storage in 1970.   Shortly thereafter. his disgruntled ex and her new boyfriend decided to take revenge on his beloved Convertible.   Fortunately the only damage that was done was a blow to the windshield.

I want to start out by saying that other than a very good cleaning and some mechanical attention. this is how I received the car. nothing has been changed or altered.

This Cyclone GT Convertible is finished in the "Rare & Desirable" color combination of Jamaican Yellow exterior and a white bucket seat interior with white convertible top.   From what I understand there was only around 2. 00 of these Cyclone GT Convertibles ever made.   With the rare and desirable color combination and the fact this car is a 390 4-speed makes this automobile with only 4337 miles truly unique in the collector car world!

The convertible body is clean. straight and rust free and shows no signs of damage or previous repairs.   The yellow paint is original and still has a nice shine but is thin in some areas that my photos will reveal.   There is also some scratches in the paint specifically one in the front of the hood. drivers front fender and the rear of the drivers rear quarter panel. please see my photos of these areas.   I never attempted to paint or spot in any of these imperfections and did not wet sand or buff the paint.   I only did a thorough washing and a wax.

The original twin scoop fiberglass hood is in excellent uncracked condition and still retains it original insulator pad underneath.   Other than the damaged windshield. all of the original clear window glass is excellent.   I did not change the damaged windshield with it's original 1970 Pennsylvania Inspection Sticker still affixed.   You will note while looking at the windshield photo. the owner had installed a pair of dummy spotlights at the bottom of the pillar posts and drilled into the stainless moldings. but not through to the inside.   I have since bought and will include a nice pair of these windshield moldings.   The white convertible top with it's clear glass rear window is original to the car and is not ripped or torn but is stained.   The top has not been lowered in 40+ years and I wasn't going to be the first one to try.

The trunk area is neat. clean & complete with the original mat. spare tire & tools and is rust free.   I removed everything and shot photographs before installing a brand new gas tank & sending unit.

Under the hood rests the original numbers matching 390 4bbl engine that runs and sounds excellent and does not smoke. tick. knock or leak any fluids.   The motor has never been out of the car and other than a pair of breathers on top of the valve covers. it appears that nothing else has been altered.   I changed all of the fluids and filters and did a complete electrical tune up and a carb rebuild. I also installed a new starter and a pair of radiator hoses while saving the originals that will go with the car. Attached to the 390 engine is the orignal numbers matching toploader 4-speed transmission that runs quiet and shifts smoothly.   Coming up through the 4 speed console is the original chrome shifter with reverse lock out and shift ball.

I am sure you understand that after a car sits for 40 years it is going to need serviced.   I replaced with all new and correct parts:  master cylinder. 4 wheel cylinders & 3 brake hoses.   The brake shoes & hardware are still like new and now the car stops on a dime.   I did save all of the original brake parts and again they will go along with the car.

The all original white parchment bucket seat interior is in nearly mint condition in this car.   It is not ripped. stained. torn or burnt and has never been redyed.   The original black carpeting is equally as nice as is the original uncracked black dash pad.   The instrument cluster and dashboard is crisp and clean and the wood simulated steering wheel is uncracked and looks like new.   All of the lights. gauges. heater & defroster. wipers. etc are all in good working order with the exception of the AM radio which does not play.

The factory options on this car are:  outside drivers remote mirror. inside day & night mirror. power top. seat belts. rear mount radio antenna & chrome rally wheels.

I received the original Pennsylvania A title that was first issued when this car was sold new along with the original owners manual showing the dealer and new owners information.   Obviously this all goes along with the sale of the car.

Even though this car has only 4336 original miles it is not in showroom new condition.   If it would have been lovingly maintained and stored properly for the past 44 years. this would be the best Comet Convertible on the planet. but unfortunately it was not. It has some battle scars & character flaws but it is one hell of a survivor.   If I did not have to prove the validity of the car. I could have changed some parts and did some paint work that would have taken this car to the next level to make it look even better than it does now.

Please understand that you are bidding to buy. not to be the first one to look.   If you need to examine this car during the auction you are more than welcome and I recommend that you do so.   I do not have a buy it now price and I am not interested in any trades.   I do have a reasonable and realistic reserve not a pie in the sky dream price.

Winning bidder to pay a substantial deposit within 48 hours and the balance due upon pick up of the vehicle within 7 days.

Thank you for looking and good luck bidding!!
