1986 DeTomaso Pantera GT5-S for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 772 votes
Very rare example of the beautiful and brutal Detomaso Pantera. Local car that has been in this area since 1997. Mechanically the car is excellent with motor. gearbox. clutch just having been gone through by well none Pantera man Ron McCall this past summer and less than 100 miles ago. New water pump. starter. thermostat. hoses. clamps etc. plus nicely detailed with all receipts available upon request. Complete brake job with new comp. rotors. calipers all lines and hoses were done in 2008 about 2000 miles ago. The wide body GT5 evolved in 1985 with the introduction of the GT5-S. The GT5-S replaced the distinctive fiberglass wheel arch flares of the GT5 with steel flares more subtly integrated into the lines of the coachwork including rear wheelhouse "strakes" reminiscent of those found on the Testarossa. The first GT5-S. chassis 9375. was assembled in 1984 and used as a show car. the remaining GT5-S Panteras have 1985 or later build dates. The final GT5-S. chassis 9562. was assembled in 1990. Pantera assembly had by that time slowed to a pace of one every two weeks. With only a few exceptions. all of the 188 Panteras assembled between 1985 and 1990 were GT5-S models. This car. chassis 9438 was imported and built in the US by Kirk Evans of Amerisport industries and the car is equipped with a 17 digit vin# along with the original Italian vin# of TOMASO874/THPNL09438. Also has all US black compliance stickers showing car complied with all US regulations for model year 1986 etc. Car even has a carfax report showing VA. and MD. ownership since 1997. no accidents ever with buyback guarantee. Motor is original 351 Cleveland with motor# ASO-0007 which produced 350 hp and along with ZF 5 speed. propelled the car from 0-60 mph in 5. 1 seconds with 13. 4 second 1/4 mile and factory claimed top speed of 174 mph. Car is very original overall with very straight body that has had a few touch up spots but never a complete repaint. Paint still shows very well and does come with rear wing which can be installed as part of purchase. Interior is all original and in excellent shape thruout. Seats. door panels. dash. carpets and headliner are all in fantastic condition considering their age. All gauges work and lights. signals. power windows etc. function as they should. Has a newer professionally installed stero system that has CD changer up front with amp. that can be removed easily if next owner wants it back to stock. Wheels were replaced at one time and factroy ones are not with the car but can be found if needed. Tires are nearly new and car runs and drives fantastic with everything performing wonderfully. Truly a rare chance to own an 80's super car without spending a small fortune.
