Vehicle Details

This 1966 Austin Healey 3000 Rally Car is the fastest Austin Healey in the world, reaching 60 mph from 0 in under 4 seconds. This one-off, rare and unique vehicle is street legal with race and rally history. It is finished in British Racing Green with Yellow Stripes over black leather upholstery. It is powered by a 3.0-liter, fuel-injected, turbo-charged, inline six engine, which is set to utilize e85 fuel as its baseline. The engine is mated to a five-speed, Tremec manual transmission, which is coupled with a Quaife®, limited-slip, 4.10 ratio differential. Equipment includes gauges for oil temperature, fuel level, water temperature, oil pressure, speedometer, tachometer, battery voltage, twin exhaust gas temperature, twin lambda readouts, Smiths 12-hour clock and Heuer rally watches (Super Autavia and Monte Carlo). The car was stripped to frame off and rebuilt beginning in 1998. Modifications include a custom chassis fabricated to original specifications but using .0080 wall chrome-moly (4130) steel. The chassis is four times more rigid than the original chassis. The front clip of the body was modified to become removable in one piece for easy access to the engine and other front-end components. Suspension upgrades include adjustable front wheel camber, lowered ride height, larger front sway bar, added rear sway bar, added rear Panhard bar, fiberglass rear springs, adjustable Koni shocks on front and rear and custom 17-inch Dayton wire wheels with stainless spokes and aluminum rims. The car has continued to evolve and includes an aluminum block with JE forged pistons and custom aluminum connecting rods, aluminum head with Ferrea valves, roller rockers, custom intake/exhaust manifold and tubing and a custom Cam-motion, forced induction (turbo) camshaft. The drive train is set up using a carbon/carbon, Tilton multi-disc clutch, very light flywheel and Tilton annular release bearing, which is connected to the Tremec T-5 gearbox incorporating custom ratios set up by Modern Driveline. Engine management is handled by a Motec M800 computer and includes Flex-Fuel capabilities using a Haltech sensor. Ignition is controlled by the M800 but supplemented by a M and W Ignitions CDI system, which includes coil-on-plug firing. The injectors are by Injector Dynamics while the turbo is a TIAL GT3071R, which is water cooled and has oil fed bearings. The car rides on staggered-width 17″ Dayton wire wheels mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S4 tires measuring 205/45 up front and 225/45 in the rear. Braking is handled by Wilwood Engineering disc brakes, which incorporate four-piston calipers with cross-drilled rotors. The braking system incorporates a bias bar on the brake pedal and an adjustable proportioning valve under the dash. The interior features manually adjustable factory bucket seats upholstered in black leather with a center console which houses the gear shift lever. Additional equipment includes a full, chrome-moly steel, custom fabricated roll cage and a Snow Performance water tank mounted in the rear, which feeds water to spray on the radiator during high altitude hill climbs. The car has an onboard fire system. The speedometer has been upgraded to electronic for accuracy. True odometer mileage is unknown.
