1948 REO fire truck -- excellent condition! for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 1004 votes
This is a special truck that will turn heads!

Handsome. and has a great history. too! Was in service fighting fires in rural California until a few years ago when I bought it and shipped it to Minnesota. It has been housed inside since. I intended to convert it to a mobile pizza oven. but another business has taken all my time and my next door neighbor would like his pole barn back. Want to sell it to someone who loves trucks or fire apparatus.

Similar to REO Speedwagon model.

Low reserve!

Starts and drives. Body is in excellent shape with virtually NO RUST! Pumper engine also works. Includes hoses.
47. 00 actual miles.

Has clean title and current Minnesota collectors plates.

22 feet long. 8 feet high. Weighs 10. 40 without water. Water tank held water when it was last used a few years ago. but has not been filled and tested since. Gasoline fuel tank is 20 gallons. Top speed is 45-50 mph.

Tires in good shape. and spare tire & rim included.

I will include a REO Motors book. and an original REO sales brochure in excellent shape. from 1948. with all kinds of detailed specs. May also have clippings showing the fire truck in service in northern California.

Truck is available to be seen in person near Minneapolis. Minnesota. It cost me about $1500 to ship it from California on a flatbed truck. so you might be able to use that as a rough estimate. Not guaranteed. You will need to make arrangements for delivery for yourself. but truck can be driven onto flatbed for shipping.

Lightbar is not original. front seat covering is taped. and there is a crack in the driver's side window. All in all. amazingly small flaws for an amazing and beautiful classic truck.

I drove 2677 at Hornbrook CDF 1966, the last year in service, replaced by #5 heavy, 1967 Chev. with 366 cu in V-8. First hand experience, during the Siskiyou Co. Fair parade, we dispatched to a fire in Weed and I drove the REO right on by the Chevys down hwy 99. Gold Comet ruled the highway!

The vehicle’s radio # is 2677 which indicates it came from CDF Siskiyou County, California. Did you find the vehicle’s “X” number? It will be stamped on the fire hydrant (spanner) wrench or wrench holder which will is located near the the right side of the fire pump. An example of an “X” # would be “5X7” or something similar. This X# will tell me the history this fire truck. If you can find that X# and forward it to me I would great appreciate it. The X# will tell me the history of this vehicle from when it went in service in 1948 to when you bought it. This information will help me make you a serious offer for this vehicle. Thank you.

Would like to put this in the California Fire Museum. We want to feature old CDF firefighting rigs. What is the bottom line you would take if we assure you it will go in our Fire Museum. This rig needs to be saved. PS, I worked in San Diego CDF

is the truck still for sale??

from Chris Marker, dated 03 january 2016
Is the engine original to the truck? Does it appear possible to remove the fire truck body from the frame in the back without cutting? Can you provide the numbers from the engine? Can you e-mail additional pictures? Thanks.
