(Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1983 Ford Bronco on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that you've only seen some of our many photographs of the SUV due to third-party website limitations. To be sure you access all the more than 145 photographs, as well as a short start-up and walk-around video, and a link to its accident and damage-free Carfax history, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.)
"Ford Bronco Generation 3: From the Trail to the Interstate" – "Ford Bronco: A History of Ford's Legendary 4x4" by Todd Zuercher
"In its third iteration, Bronco set out to blaze further fresh territory. This time, key innovations boosted fuel economy and ensured a smoother ride, both on-road and off. A change from solid front axle to independent front suspension (Twin-Traction Beam) was implemented to improve ride characteristics while not compromising ground clearance in rough terrain. New models also offered more luxury amenities, without sacrificing on the capability front."
Offered here is a 1983 Ford Bronco XLT, a well-maintained Florida truck professionally refinished in metallic brown-and-white over black. The truck's five-digit odometer shows 33, 274 miles, however the Carfax history notes that the odometer has likely rolled over and this reading is not the total mileage.
The Bronco's exterior metallic-brown and white finish is in very good condition across the entire truck, clearly the result of professional paintwork. Only the hood and steel top show any signs of fading or patina while the white fiberglass roof shows limited paint delamination. The paint scheme-white fiberglass top, brown upper-body, white mid-body, and brown lower-body-matches the factory style. There are no dings, dents, or damage anywhere on the truck's sheet-metal panels. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) Chrome on the handsome front grille, front bumper (rear bumper is painted black), body-side trim, and West Coast-style side mirrors exhibits excellent finish quality; door handles show some pitting and patina from age. The tailgate's brushed-metal trim piece is in very good condition with only minor dents. Badging-including the Ford blue-oval emblems front and back and the front-fender "Bronco XLT" badges-are properly in place. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear with no cracks. The Bronco features a mild lift kit. Aftermarket, 15-inch, dish-style, polished alloy wheels in excellent condition are mounted with General® Grabber A/T 33x12.50 LT all-terrain tires (a matching spare is mounted on the swing-away rear carrier). The front axle features lock-out hubs.
The Bronco's black interior shows evidence of regular use. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the condition of the Bronco's interior surfaces.) Door trim shows some light fading; cabin and cargo area black carpeting is in good condition; front seats have been upgraded with Corbeau® high-back buckets (the passenger cushion has an impact mark) while the rear (removable) bench seat retains original upholstery in excellent condition. Sony® audio speakers have been added to the cabin; cargo-area walls have been re-covered. The 2-spoke, blue-oval-branded steering wheel frames the full XLT instrument package including 85-mph speedometer, 6,000-rpm tachometer, and monitoring gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and alternator output. A Kenwood® audio head unit is mounted in the factory-radio location above slide-lever controls for the HVAC system and two upgraded additional auxiliary SunPro® gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature mounted below the dash. The transfer-case selector lever is floor-mounted while the shift lever for the automatic transmission is mounted on the steering column. A lockable Tuffy® storage box/armrest is mounted between the front seats.
Under the hood, the 5.8-liter Ford V8 is clean and complete. All components-including air conditioning-are properly mounted. Blue-painted valve covers and a chrome Edelbrock-embossed, open-sided air-cleaner cover add flair. Viewed from below, the truck's chassis is straight and undamaged. Most metal surfaces have been treated with rust-inhibitor so even surface rust is absent.
The Bronco's original identification and information tags remain mounted.
While the more than 145 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '83 Ford Bronco in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.
It's no secret that vintage 4WD trucks are in demand, due in part to their stout build quality and absence of much of the techno-wizardry and car-like cushiness common in many of today's truck offerings. Out on the trails, forest roads, sand dunes, or wherever adventure calls, getting there in a vintage Bronco just adds to the fun.

About Garage Kept Motors
Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.
For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.
For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
