For sale is my very rare Toyota Soarer GT Twin Turbo 24v. a GZ20 model. there are only about 6 of these in the UK & maybe 8 in the whole of Europe. so everywhere I go people ask what it is.

If you don't know much about them then this is the line of cars that later became Lexus. it was in its time the most expensive Toyota you could buy in Japan. Its a 2 door sports coupe. 210bhp as standard from its 6 cylinder 24v Twin Turbo Intercooled 1G-GTE engine. They came with this engine or 3. 0L Turbo as found in the Supra. It shares 99 percent of its mechanical parts with the MA70 Supra so keeping it running is simples. The engine is the same unit as found in the Lexus IS200 just the more modern Lexus doesn't have the turbos.

This is what the GT86 should have been. its a similar size & weight car. has similar power outputs but is way way cooler than any modern car.

The car is almost all original. the interior is as it left the factory & is in amazing condition for a 26 year old car. Please note the seats are velour so they shine in the light of the camera. they are not worn. Everything works from the original Technics Live Sound system to the electric lumbar seats. electric windows & electric folding mirrors. Even the little light built into the door handle works to show you the key hole at night when you lift the handle. The digi dash works perfectly though they don't give bother like the later Soarer's anyway.

Mechanically it is superb. I have been using it on a regular basis for the past few months. it drives like a car a quarter its age. Its even pretty good on fuel if you don't gas it about 40l gets you about 350-400km. Though you can halve that if you wish with a lead foot. It uses no water & it only requires an occasional small top up of oil every few thousand km which is quite normal for one of these.

The previous owner who had it for some time had it serviced at a Toyota Dealership for many years though he only did a few hundred miles a year in it! It also had a top end rebuild (possibly due to tired valve guide seals) Its had a new original radiator recently too. Waterworks are spot on clean & clear. its gets up to temp & the gauge is spot on. These engines rarely give any trouble at all & it runs like a Swiss watch. the loudest thing in the engine bay when its running is the injectors ticking!

However it does have a cat back "Barry Exhaust" on it. which really does not suit it in its standard guise. so I plan to change this for an original looking twin tip SS one in the coming weeks (I put a bung in it to lessen the drone & make it useable) The alloy wheels are starting to flake though I intend to unbolt the split the centres & get them powder coated. These I plan to do in the next 7-10 days.

Other than that the only non original parts are an air filter. strut brace. HKS Top Mounts. lowering springs & the rather lovely Racing Beat 16" split rims. These I would consider original JDM aftermarket goodies that most Japanese imports would come with. The wheels themselves are period to the car though they have 4 new tyres on. There are some mint original Z20 Soarer wheels on Ebay at the moment should you be interested. Everything except the AC works though there is some pressure in the system so it will just need a top up to work as new.

The car had a mild restoration over a 3 month period over the winter. including a full respray as the original paintwork was very tired with lacquer peel. Its painted in a Mercedes Metallic Pearl Blue & is near match for the rare blue colour a few of these came in originally. There are few imperfections in the paint but overall its very tidy & polishes up well. All the door shuts. nooks & crannies are painted. the doors were stripped down & reassembled for painting. Under the bonnet is & in the boot is original. I properly fixed & treated any rust whilst at it. which was mostly in the drain hole areas of the rear quarter pockets. The car was then fully waxoyled throughout to keep it nice for many years to come. I've retro fitted some aero wiper blades so they work as they should.

These are rare cars even in Japan & they command big prices as they are now deemed classics out there as most of them were exported years ago.

So overall a perfectly useable & very rare car. I'd happily drive it anywhere without bother knowing its probably more reliable than many a new car! It has a long MOT. is taxed for a few months. has new tyres all round. Comes with two keys. spare wheel. original toolkit & jack. original boot mat. It is fitted with an immobilser (a nice simple touch free one) with a certificate & its starts first time on the button.

Ideally I'd like a cash sale but I would consider a PX for either something interesting & Japanese or something mundane thats of lesser value. Either way feel free to contact me on 07970642129 & I'll happily talk old school Toyota's all day long.

I can happily assist with a sale to Europe. in fact I'd be more than happy to drive it out there & make a weekend of it. As its already registered in Europe & its largely original getting a TUV or similar should not be a problem. There is full V5 documentation in my name. MOT certificate. Previous history file etc.
